• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Garmin for RT

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Zumo 660 from Garmin and the one from BRP. You can buy one from Garmin for $650.00 and the one from BRP is $1100.00. Is the mount and wiring harness for the 660 in the BRP kit different from the mount and harness you get with Garmin kit. I already have the chrome mount and wire kit that came with it. The wire kit that came with the chrome mount is just a short wire plug with a radio antenna connection.

As I recall, the BRP unit comes with the Spyder specific mounting bracket and a wiring harness, as well as a Spyder splash screen and icon. The bracket and harness can be purchased separately from your dealer for $150.

I have the BRP mount that the Garmin mounts to. It came with a short harnes. What I need to know is mount and harness that comes with the Garmin is the same that comes in the BRP Garmin it. The mount I have is just the chrome pedistal that the main harness mounts to.

BRP says that is compatible with the Garmin 660. That's why they sell it.

Right now I have a Garmin Nuvi mounted to my windscreen, how is the Zumo when mounted on the handle bar ie. Sun glare or taking eyes off the road to look down?

Thanks,

Randy

The Garmin 660 from Garmin does not contain the BRP mount and harness needed to hook up to your RT. I did the same thing you want to do. I had to purchase the BRP mount/harness kit from BRP and purchased the 660 from a cheaper source. The Garmin 660 from BRP has a Can-Am splash screen. That is the only difference in the units. Also, the Garmin 665 works just fine in case you want to get that model instead of the 660. If you decide to get the 665 unit, you will have to get your installer to connect the xmradio antenna to the BRP harness during installation. The BRP harness is the same for both units.

Sent you a pm JimBob.:ani29:

:dontknow:
The BRP harness has two power leads (+ and -) and a speaker lead, that's it.

I love where Dave mounted Teddy's GPS with the ram mount on the top of the dash. Do you think there is any reason why I couldn't splice the BRP harness to make it longer to accommodate the new location on the dash?

Mine is to the far left with the stock cable and a little rerouting. You could splice the power cables and extend the audio cable.

I bought my Zumo 660 from Dell and the GPS Support and Harness Mount from ebay. I paid less than 700.00 for the 660 and 135.00 for the harness and mount kit with free shipping.

Installation took me about two hours.

After 2000 mile trip, I can say it was invaluable & had no glare or sun issues
