• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Garmin and Spyder miles

Has anyone seen or experienced the mileage on the Garmin and the mileage not matching up on the Spyder? Reset both at the same time and the mileage on the BMW. The mileage on the Garmin and BMW the same but the Spyder added about 7 miles more in roughly 125 mile ride.:dontknow:

Don't know about your ryde, but my RT (and I've heard of others) always reads about 1-2 mph faster than actual speed. That might account for your increased mileage over distance as compared to the Garmin. If your Spyder reads faster than actual speed, your Garmin is probably a better indicator of mileage traveled, as it is based on your place on earth (GPS). And, if so, the Garmin is probably also a better indicator of current speed. I know mine is.

Like you, I did notice the speed always is faster on the Spyder then it is on the Garmin. Glad warranty is by years and not miles then.

I see you have the Utopia backrest.....how to you like it?

I like it a lot. Decent adjustments, which the BRP backrest does not have. Also, I felt like the BRP backrest was always pushing me forward. This does not. Check out their website and you can see all the adjustments you can make - it even comes with a leather pouch on the back for storing small items. Mine is on the stock production seat. I don't know if they make one for the Comfort or Ultimate seats. Check that out before you purchase.

Tough one..!!

hard to get different systems to all read the same. Tire size can affect it as well. And as for speed.....it never matches the radar guns...:roflblack::roflblack:

Garmin & Spyder Miles

My Spyder is always 2 MPH faster that indicated on my the Garmin. Must be the size of tire. I read on other threads at SL that the 215 size tires will correct the difference. I have a 2013 ST.

The GPS if connected to satellite will be more accurate and the speedometer/odometer (regardless of model make of vehicle) will be less accurate.

If you're watching the traffic conditions and scenery; you never notice the odometer anyway! :D
Ignore it, and focus on the ride! :2thumbs:

With my Yoko tire speedo is right on when below 50 e.g. at 45 it matches the GPS. At 70 on the GPS the Speedo says 72.
This is a little better than the stock tire.

The odometer on every motorcycle I have ever owned has been off. The worst was the Goldwing, which was 10% off. Surprisingly, the Spyder is the closest to accurate I've seen in 5 motorcycles I've owned.
