FYI air intake

Hay all who have either JT's or Kewlmetal air intake be sure to keep close tabs on boots under the throttle body as mine have split which was part of the high idle
problem I was having.

I am now looking for a way to give the throttle body a little more support so this does not happen again. I know this will not effect some of
you as you don't put the kind of miles as I have. I have to par the R&R charges as well as the parts.

I hope others will take notice. I thought the mechanic was trying to pad the bill but when he showed the area just under the throttle body
as he moved it back and forth I could see the cracks is it do the intake or the access heat drying out the rubber boots :dontknow: R&D guys

Yes all vacuum hoses have bee replaced the dealer found the problem with the boots under the throttle body
being split. need to replace them. :dontknow: jtpollock

I have see a couple of reports of those boots cracking even with the stock airbox. Mostly on older models like 08-10

Ethanol fuel - Isopropyl alcohol, will dry out rubber parts as well as the heat.....
I use Non-Ethanol fuel anytime I have a choice.

FYI, every time I do an oil change I take some 100% food grade silicon spray and lube up the rubber parts on the engine. This helps keep them from getting dried out, etc.

I also lube up the air bag.

Well back on the road as for the cost out of warranty out of luck. :yikes:nojoke jtpollock

Got the Spyder back replaced the DESS , Ignitions Switch and both key's it's nice to turn
the key and have things work the way their suppose to. The next thing to be replaced was the Boots
under the throttle body both were almost ripped clear through now the Idle is back to normal.

It's nice to have my Spyder back and working like it should :clap::2thumbs::yes: no more :banghead::cus::yikes:
