• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Funny/Scary 2 Up "Issue"

Only problem my wife and I had on our ride a few weeks ago to RI was that the backseat was
in fact too comfy for her. Yep...she said she nodded off once. After an emergency rest area stop
to "fuel her up" on an energy drink "we" were fine for the rest of the trip. This started the very
funny conversation over a need for either real strong velcro or a seatbelt for her so she doesn't
fall sideways off the back. Was a "wake up call" for me to verify that she was "there" every 50 miles
or so.

Makes me wonder why some others have posted that the back seat is like riding in a farm wagon.
But then...I will never know if the back seat is comfy or not as I never intend on trying it out
myself.

There are several sponsors of this site, that sell passenger armrests...
I had a set from Diamond-R on my 2010 RT, and the Missus loved them.

You can even add a Bungee cord between them if necessary If she starts to drift off; she'll feel that, and it should wake her up!

Will add the arm rests to the Farkle list...think she can buy that one....

After you put the arm rests on .................................................... Put a safety chain from one to the other :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Yep like the ones on the chair swings at the fair. You would pull them up and slide under to get the bar to lock you in. [emoji2]

that is why they have that tee shirt that says, IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THEN THE WITCH ( changed the word ) FELL OFF

My 2011 had Corbin armrests for the back seat. They didn't swing out like some of them do. Being rigidly attached, they'd do better for holding someone in.

Another idea is to lower the windshield. The constant wind in her face will help keep her alert!

Lol. All great ideas...though the t-shirt may be harmful to my health. Funny! Would end up with "2 up" side my head....

I might need to add arm rest to my :spyder: cause my wife did the same thing. I guess the spyders are just that comfortable. :hun:

We trade Off

So my wife and I share the driving responsibilities so we have each experienced the dozing phenomenon and it can get a little scary. She says she knows whenI fall asleep as she hears my helmet clinking on hers, and she tells me, just like Moe told Curly...."Wake up and ago to asleep!

Riding 2-up on my Kawasaki Voyager, I felt the weight shift a bit to one side. I could see in the rear view mirror that my wife's soft drink was leaning in her hand and pouring out. Fortunately I stopped without issue.

Yes, get the armrests!!

Not uncommon....

good idea to check in now and then. Usually the helmet knock is a good sign of possible dozing....:lecturef_smilie:

Les from MN has seat belts for when he rides as a passenger. He said it isn't a matter if it he falls asleep but when he falls asleep. His user name is PW2013STL send him a message and ask him how he made them. They were just straps that went over his shoulders.

My 9 year old son rides on the back of my '08 GS, and gets sleepy on the longer rides. Since most of our Chapter owns RT's, there is never a problem finding a willing RT owner who doesn't mind taking him the last part back. Falling asleep is not even an option on anything but the RT Spyder. The few times we were alone when he was sleepy, we pulled over and did some Jumping Jacks for a bit. I have come to learn that he's good for 150-200 miles...and gets sleepy after a good lunch. I just have to factor that in when traveling with him :-)

Falling off the back seat of an RT! :hun:

I thought you just used the twist grip in your right hand to make sure your passenger stayed firmly pressed against the backrest - awake or not.... doesn't matter!! ;)

The queen falls asleep on our RTs. With the oem seat and no armrests it was more unnerving. Now with a Corbin seat, trunkrest, armrests and her having my backrest in front of her, it would take a lot for her to fall off. The Corbin armrests and seat are probably her favorite mods.

I made straps that chris cross over the shoulders and connect together by vinyl quick connectors.
I purchased everything needed at JoAnn fabrics. 6' of nylon web strap, two sets of quick connectors for the nylon strap, and brass eyelets.
I cut the strap into 4 pieces ( 2 long and 2 short) melting the cut ends and put a brass eyelet into one end of each strap. This is for the screw to go through for securing the straps to the Spyder. The two long straps I fastened to the inside of the trunk using the screws that hold the backrest on.
The two short straps were fastened to the rear screws that hold the cover on by the passenger hand grips. Using the nylon quick connectors (one set blue and one set black) I put the male end on the top straps and the female end on the bottom straps with the color across from each other - ie blue on the left top and bottom right - this way I could tell that I was correctly crossing them over my shoulder.
Once the straps are connected I can then pull on the strap ends to tighten them down and you are not going to fall off no matter how deep a sleep your in.
When not in use the upper straps go into the trunk and the bottom straps tuck behind the seat all out of sight. No one knows I have them until I point it out.
