Full sheepskin seat cover

I think those might be made by someone else as they are hanging on a rack where ever he goes. Didn't look at the singles very long :dontknow:. Sheep don't melt in the rain anyway only wicked witches... so it should not hurt to get them wet. I'd bet he would mod the pad for you to add the quick release if you ran into him... or it is a good excuse to go to Branson.

Sheep don't melt in the rain but they also don't have dyed hair. So if yours is dyed you will want to be really careful in the rain or you may have a new colored Spyder.

Misty Mountain permanently dyes them. I asked Gene about that last year when I bought mine at Spyder Palooza.

We are very fortunate to have found a supplier that will furnish us with top quality sheepskins. These are strictly #1 quality available as #1 shaggy skins and priced accordingly. They are permanently dyed. They are also washable in Yucalan or Ivory liquid and cool water. Tumble dry or lay outside to dry

Just the opposite. It keeps you cool because even as you sit on it the air circulates under your bottom. No chapping and no wet bottom. If you get the FULL cover you will hardly notice any heat rising up. REALLY!

In the winter it works the opposite and keeps you warm. Have used the full covers for forty of my sixty two years of riding. And believe me I have tested them in every kind of weather. If it gets wet it dries very quickly and is washable if it is genuine sheepskin.

A lot of after market "sheepskin" pads are not real sheepskin but a "fake" polyester. Check em out.

Really appreciate the write-up Jack. I've been on the fence with these for a while now. I'm looking to add just a little more comfort to my new Airhawk R, which has already helped a lot. I was just concerned on if I would burn up or not. I have a trip to Pittsburgh planned for mid-July, and a trip to Toronto planned for October. This additional comfort will be needed.

You've sold me. I'm calling the factory tomorrow. :2thumbs:

Never had one do that yet Ann but have heard of it happening. I have been doing this for forty plus years and I think the answer is "don't go cheap on your sheep". Most of my full covers were Harley or custom made. See you in Durango. You can check mine out.

Do you have the standard seat or the comfort seat??

Wanted to let everyone know how pleased I am with my new full sheepskin seat cover. One piece rider passenger and sides. I have always ridden with one of these for as long as I can remember. Even when I rode to Sturgis on my BSA 441 in 1967. Keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter! No moisture or chapping.

Unable to find anyone who made the full cover for the spyder only the seat pads. I called Louie at The Sheepskin Factory and he said he only made the seat pads but would go to a Spyder dealer, measure and make me a full cover. That was Thurs. late pm. I was reluctant to order something sight unseen and not even developed yet. I called early Friday morning and asked him how soon I could get it as I wanted to use it for the O/E in Durango. He said I will have it to you by Sat. afternoon at 3pm. It arrived two hours early and it is perfect. Very high quality sheepskin and workmanship. Contoured exactly to the seats.

If you have not ridden on a FULL sheepskin cover you do not know what your missing on a long ride.

If you are thinking in this direction give Louie a call. Really nice people eager to please.

Cost was $250 plus $28 for overnight express shipping USPS

Sheepskin Seat Cover

Hi Jack,

Bought a new RT last Friday... only 185 miles since riding it home to Fort Myers from Naples. It gets very hot here in the summer and a shady parking space is usually hard to find. Does your sheepskin completely cover the sides of the seat? I have an old sheepskin for our Gold Wing... it does not cover the sides of the seat from the sun, or the passenger backrest... I'll try it on our next ride to test the comfort. If comfort improved, I may order one from The Sheepskin Factory. Thanks for posting your seat info. Have a fun & safe 4th of July weekend.

Lyle...

P.S. GREAT forum... just found it today and joined.

Sheepskin

Got mine this weekend in the Black Hills for $90.00 and he installed it on the Spyder . Love it as we rode in 100 degree temps and it was better than the hot black seat !seat cover.jpg

Will consider!

Was not aware of this! Will check this out. Only 9 miles from me! Thanks!

The wife and I have rode with full sheepskins on our spyders for a few years now. Just cut a slit in the middle to go over the post of the driver backrest and a small bunge cord across the front holds it in place. The hair covers the cord. Like above it keeps cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We went with natural color so no fading from sun and rain.

Question: Are there any longterm problems associated with having a sheepskin cover get soaked in a rainstorm? :dontknow:
(Assuming that you get it fully dried-out!) :D

Drys quickly, thats the beauty. It wicks! Can be removed in seconds with two straps under the seat.
