• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Full Cover Fitment

I searched a lot for this particular fitment question and did not find a great deal of information. Based on what I had found, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the following combination. The good news is that IT FITS!!!

2015 RT-S with stock windshield
Stock single antenna
Show Chrome 41-155 Tour trunk rack
5/8" riser kit for the rack
Nelson Rigg Full Cover CAS-370

This particular cover has reinforced openings for the stock antenna and also for another antenna on the left (which I believe would be the optional CB antenna if your bike is fitted with this). As you can see by the attached pictures, the fitment at the rear of the bike is pretty full but it is not tight and the cover pulls easily into position around the bottom of the bike all around. The windshield does need to be in the lowest position.

This cover was selected because I used to have some covered parking at work but that has changed with some recent construction. With the bike sitting outside all day, constant Southern California sun and also directly in line with a municipal airport flight path about 1/4" mile away, I wanted to cover all of the painted parts. This particular cover is pretty substantial but it does take up quite a bit of room in the trunk. I'll use something different for travel and day trips.

Although I bought a Nelson-Rigg half cover, right out of the box I was impressed with the quality of the construction, particularly the reinforced holes for antennas. I've even had passers by comment about how well it looks and fits.

I did recently experience a quality problem with my Nelson Rigg full cover. I had only been using this cover about 1-1/2 weeks and the seam sealing tape on an area about 20" long separated from the fabric. I had purchased the cover from Revzilla but prior to purchasing, I had emailed Nelson Rigg about a month ago to ask about fitment on a 2015 RT-S with an antennae. At that time, they responded that they had not been able to confirm the fitment on the 2015 but based on "clues" I found here and over the Internet, I went ahead and purchased the cover.

On the very day that I took the pictures of the cover fitting the bike with the Show Chrome rack in place and the stock antennae, I received another email from Nelson Riggs that was to let me know that they had been able to get the opportunity to fit the full cover on a 2015 Spyder RT and confirmed that it fit and that the antennae holes matched. I was very impressed that not only did this company take it upon themselves to make this contact with me but especially that they had actually kept the previous email and were able to refer back to it to even know that the question had existed. I directed them to this post as my confirmation of the fit.

A couple of days later, I found the seam tape that was coming off of the cover. Since I had the email contact, I sent them a note about it to ask if this condition lessened the ability to repel water and they confirmed that it did. They also offered to tend to the warranty exchange directly rather than me going back through my purchase point and provided a link to their on-line warranty claim form. I filled out the claim form and sent it in (electronically) that afternoon. By noon of the following day I received an email containing a RA# (return authorization) with the instructions to send it back. I am in the San Diego area and they are in Santa Ana (Los Angeles) so I sent it UPS ground that same day which usually gets to the LA area the next day. On that following day at about noon time, I received a notice that a package had already been sent to me which I am assuming is the replacement cover (expecting it any day now).

So, any company and any product can have a "bad" one get through now and then. It's what they choose to do when this happens that really counts. In this case, from the time I placed my warranty request to the time that they had a replacement in the mail was approximately 48 hours. It doesn't get much better than that for customer service.

And now, a Formosa

While I was waiting for my replacement Nelson Rigg Full Cover (which I received in one day), I went ahead and ordered up a Formosa half cover. Again, the bike is a 2015 RT-S with a Show Chrome trunk rack and a stock windshield. There was even a small bag on the rack.

The fit was tight with the rack and bag and in the front the cover did not quite get over the headlights but it still went on and did what it is intended to do. I think the price (without shipping) was $33.
