Fuel Pump pics
I've had problems with a blocked fuel pump suction screen on my C14 previously due to dirty fuel. Unlike Spyder, it has no external filter. When the screen gets blocked, the engine miss fires badly, stalls when stopping and generally runs very sick. The only fix is to remove the tank, fuel pump and dismantle it to remove and clean the screen - which can only be purchased with a complete fuel pump assembly. I'm preparing for a 10,000km tour with my sons in a couple of months and don't wish to have fuel problems. (Fuel in Australia seems to be 'dirtier' than in the US from what I've read/seen elsewhere.) Anyhow, I bought a used Spyder fuel pump to see what's inside. It has a comparatively large suction screen which extends vertically when the cup (not shown) is assembled to the pump body. The dirty/blocked screen is out of a C14 prior to cleaning, which when clean is the same colour as the Spyder one.
