• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Fuel and Temp Gauges

Good Morning One and All. Hope everyone is doing good. My 2010 RTS SE5 is in the shop getting the Brake Fluid sensors replaced. I had a thought about having the tech disconnect the gas and temp gauges on the dash so they would show up on the screen. What do I need to tell him to do for this to happen? :dontknow: Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just remove the 4 bolts on the panel cluster, turn the handle bar, pull out the panel. You simply disconnect both wires from each gauge and reinstall the panel. Very easy takes less than 10 min. It's more accurate for the fuel then you can install something in their place. Ride safe

Not being the most mechanically inclined individual I figured it would be better for the tech to do it. After your explaination I will do it myself. Sweet. Thanks Medic 1:clap:

This is news to me... if you disconnect the analog gauges for fuel and temp, it automatically displays them on the LCD?? Does it address this in the manual?

Lamont is the one that told me that pulling the analog gauges would result in the more accurate digital readouts being available to us, and since he was sitting on a bike that use the analog temp gauge hole to mount a cup holder.. that was good enough for me

can someone tell me what the three wires are for on the fuel gauge. I am looking for something hot to put in a power outlet.

The black on the three wire assembly is the ground. There should e an addition, single red wire the connects separately from the triple connection that powers the backlight of the gauge. That is your hot wire.

Wish I had read this before doing mine! I had a terrible time getting the cluster out enough to reach in and disconnect the gauges. All I needed to do was turn the steering! ARGH!!

Question:
If you have these gauges disconnected and change to the ones in the Info Center; Does that affect any display that the ACS needs to show suspesnion pressures? (Or doesn't the ACS use any display space?)

It doesn't affect the other functions. They show up where they always did they just replace the fuel and temp momentarily. Just remember to tell your tech that you disconnected these on purpose. I had my Spyder in for service and when I picked it up that had reconnected the gauges. :banghead: I find that I get a much more accurate fuel reading with the digital display.

The digital fuel gauge and temp seems to be more accurate, although I never had problems with the OEM. I do like having the oil pressure and volt meter instead. Part of the cowtown performance package

:lecturef_smilie: Don't use one of these for any substantial load. It would probably run a GPS, but is not sufficient for heated gear, etc.
