• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Frustration - rant

Great post!!!!! There is so much to agree with and very little if any to disagree. I did the Navy thing for 20 yrs and then the Gov thing for another 20. I've had my fair share of whining, complaints, whatever you want to call it. In the Navy the old saying was "A happy sailor is a bitching sailor". As I aged-I don't really believe that. Anyway, thanks for the Rant and all the comments. Just RIDE and enjoy whatever life you have left.

Hey Mikey....If some on this forum bug you, avoid the crazy twits on the Facebook Spyder groups. You want dumb questions, dumbanswers, stupid things done to a Spyder and more? They are all there.

.

That is so true. I am a member here for solid answers Have had to block on FB some of them and on several Spyder FB groups and it runs the gamut from helpful answers to just pure ignorance, even when smacked with the truth.

A special " shout out " to all here who state their names at the end of every post.... it's nice to know Who we are answering .........
10-4 on that one:clap:
My name has been there from the time I joined....RICZ. I left the space out from between the C and the Z. Ric is short for Richard - there is no K in Richard.

I can on here last fall to learn more about three wheelers.
Having asked more than my share of dumb newbie questions, someone has always given a answer, without any sarcasm.
I have learned a lot and thanks everyone.
Now al I have to do is sell my bike, take the riding course (June) and then find a Ryker that I can afford.
Than I will be asking more dumb questions LOL.

Harkening back to my days as an accounting professor...I always told the students at the very first class, that there is no such thing as a stupid question. For every one that you think you have, I am betting that there are several others with the same question...only not brave enough to ask it.

You are right...there are no stupid questions, but there are stupid answers.

Mike, I always read your posts. I find them very useful. I have been on this site close to 10 years now. Not as long as alot of you. Keep up the good work. Bruce

Whenever I am teaching someone, the first thing I tell them.
"It's not a dumb question if you don't know the answer"
Second is.
" If you didn't understand the answer, say so"
I might not have explained it properly.
I would rather have you talk to me, than have you nodding your head up and down and get hurt or break something later.

RE: DILLIGAS

It has been awhile since I have seen a reference to this. I first saw it on a truckers hat (baseball) around 1980. I had to ask what it meant at that time. :roflblack:

Never had the guts to wear the patch or buy the hat, but from time to time, I do support the concept.

You are right...there are no stupid questions, but there are stupid answers.

……and as you mentioned earlier, the vast number of those stupid answers are on the FB sites, Ric. There was a rider recently who posted on FB that his recently purchased, 2nd hand Spyder was displaying “Limp Home”.

There were immediately 20 replies of - check battery cables, add oil, add brake fluid, bad fuse, etc before someone asked him to pull the error code (he was unaware of error codes)……it was a Camshaft position error. He checked the relevant connectors and found no issues, bought a new unit and replaced it….. problem solved. On here, the first piece of advice would have been “what’s the error code”.

For some reason, many on FB just HAVE to reply to a post with guesses. If you reply with guesses on here, experienced members will quickly call you out, which Is a huge benefit to all. I certainly never see an ACCURATE correction of something I have posted as
anything other than a benefit to all:thumbup:
