There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Frunk won't latch

I'm having trouble getting my frunk to latch closed on my 2012 RT. I'm made sure there is nothing in the way, the lid lays flush to the body, but I can push it down hard enough that the shocks bounce and it won't latch. There is nothing in the frunk, and the gasket is in place. I had to put a bungie cord on it to drive home over the weekend! :gaah::gaah: Any ideas? I've sprayed the latch with WD40 and it will latch closed if I just push down on the latch.

I know the usual problem is the frunk won't open but mine won't latch. :mad::mad:

I'm stumped! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Sounds a little like the latch is stuck in the open position.
Maybe the cable needs lubricating or the sliding part of the latch needs some grease.

Let's see..!!

only two parts to deal with here. The latch and the pin. You say the latch is moving and you lubricated it. So there must be an alignment problem. If the pin does not go down far enough for the latch to catch it you need to loosen the nut and screw it down a bit. If it does not line up with the latch you need to loosen the latch bolts and adjust the latch. First check and see if any parts are loose to start with. Manually move the latch mechanism where the cable hooks up and see if it returns smooth and quick...good luck..!! :thumbup:

First make sure the latch is open to allow the frunk to close

make sure that the latch and the catch are aligned

make sure that the rubber around the inside lip is properly positioned and not preventing the lid from closing

These are the only suggestions i can think of.

My 2012 had the same problem - -here's what I found to fix it

Check on the Spyder where the latch is with the frunk open. My 2012 RT Limited's latch mechanism bolt (the receiver lock mechanism on the bike body) was loose and pushed the latch lock mechanism down some so it would not latch (this occurred with less than 500 miles on it when I bought it new last year).

Anyways, if that's it, I just closed the latch lock (manually) to put in in the lock position (with the frunk still open), loosen the latch lock bolt some, then used a screwdriver in the latch lock area to pull it up some, then tightened the bolt/nut so it would stay put. BEFORE closing your frunk to check, unlock the mechanism again so it can accept the frunk's latch bar.

Good luck! :thumbup:

no adjustment

I checked the part on the lid this morning and don't see how that can be adjusted in any way. So there is a way to adjust the latch on the body up? The latch is working just fine when I close it by hand. :banghead::banghead:
