• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Oh boy now i did it. Had front clip off my RTS today. Now trunk will not open No click from dash switch and Key will not even turn far enough to open trunk. I hope I can to it by removing side panels or maybe threw back of dash. Has any one to delt with this? I could use some advice.

:agree:
And then adjust the latch, it is slotted. It's a good idea to check that before you put the covers on. Mine was a little loose so I made the adjustment to get it just right.

Thanks to all for post. With the use of a good small light and forcing lid up enough was able to open frunk with a coat hanger. Strange enough Only key will open trunk. Re-adjusted and now works and closes great but only with key. Fix will be a dealer problem. John Miller

I imagine you did everything right, but just in case, did you make sure you tried the electric release when the engine was running? It does not work otherwise. Second question, are you sure you plugged in the lid switch correctly? It can be connected to just two poles, making it so the light works but not the trunk latch. If left disconnected, it will not work at all, of course. Just some friendly reminders of things to check...not poking at you with a stick, or anything. :D

Yes I did check to see if it was plugged in right. And with motor running to. I have not used running switch for some time most of the time bike is shut off when I opened frunk.

Sounds like a bad solenoid or switch, unless a wire got pinched and shorted, or something. Your dealer should be able to troubleshoot the problem fairly readily.

Frunk Release

Check to see if you bent the limit to the left of the latch , this limit has to be made to allow the solenoid to work ,it does NOT only turn on compartment light, I have had to adjust{BEND} my wifes a couple of times. It moves with the latch when adjusting the latch but is very frail and easily bent oiut of place when replacing left cover over it.Have also had to bend the bracket that the limit is bolted to up so that it would make. Try this before push down lightly above the limit to help it make and have someone push the dash button if its not quite making you will hear the solenoid fire while you are pushing down, and engine running, then you are on the right trail, hope is some help .

Thanks for idea. Will have my helper(wife) work dash switch to see if any thing moves. I can not hear micro click with out some one working switch.Sure would be nice not to make a trip to dealer.

Switch

I know the feeling ,learning this from manual as we go, dealer long way away, good luck. Thank goodness do have complete manual , although this complex wiring can be hard to follow with the computer harness.

Seems dash switch not working at all. I will just use key switch for some time as I have some company on the way to do some traveling with there trike and us with the RTS. Take it to dealer next month to have it fixed .

"Front Clip"?

JW ... I just got my RT-S outta the shop and took it out for a shakedown ride this weekend. Same problem as you. My remote trunk release isn't working. What did you mean by "Had front clip off"? What is a "front clip?"

Fortunately, I can still open with the key.

Thanks

Paul

Have not removed anything from the bike, but I did add Reggy's fender lights. My frunk remote release worked randomly when I pressed it, before I added the fender lights. Took the bike in for oil change and asked them to look at the remote release. They said that it wouldn't be covered by the warranty due to my adding the fender lights. Told them it wasn't working before I added the lights but they can't accept that because all they see are lights. Something about maybe blowing a fuse.

Also with this dealer it takes them two weeks to change the oil. So that is two weeks with my bike sitting outside, rain or shine. They won't use my cover for it either. Really wish there was another dealer other than Coleman Powersports here in Woodbridge Va.

Jon, did you buy the bike from them? 2 weeks for an oil change is beyond ridiculous. I do my own oil changes now but my dealer did the first one during the 600 mile service. Took about 3 hours or so for the 600 mile service. Just had it in for the 10,000 mile service...took 2 hours minus the oil change which I did.

There has to be another dealer around there that will treat you and your Spyder right. If I was you I'd even travel a 100 miles or so to find a good dealer. Good luck!

Question: Are you sure that the switch for the frunk release hasn't been damaged?
If you pop the frunklid open; it kind of sticks it's head out from under that crescent-shaped black panel on the right-hand side. ( You can see the notch where it sits)
If that arms that sticks out from it has been knocked out of alignment; you can GENTLY massage it back to the correct shape!
