• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Frunk release button?

Does anyone use this button? I can't figure out how it's supposed to work for the life of me. It won't work when the engine is running. It won't work after I shut off the engine unless I wait some unknown amount of time, and even then I can't get it to work reliably. I've given up on using it and use the key now instead. Is this normal?

I have a 2012 limited with the frunk button, works while the key is in on the position with or with out the engine running. Although I belive it as to be in park or at least neutral with the engine runing. My spyder is still under wraps up here in the north east so I can not check.

the button still works up to a minute when I turn the spyder off.

Have your dealer check out the connection as it's just push and frunk unlatches.

Should work every time the key is in the ON position. Sounds like there is a faulty connection somewhere between the switch and release solenoid.

I had that dash switch on my 2012 RT Limited. I ran into an issue with it when I first had the bike. There is a limit switch that needs to be "satisfied" in order for the switch to work. The frunk hood was out of adjustment when I got the bike new. I adjusted the frunk hood and aligned it better. The "finger" that hits the limit switch worked perfectly after I did that and had no more problems......you might want to see if that limit switch is making the connection (i.e. pushed far enough in to make a contact). Hope all goes well.....

There's a problem in there...
My first guess: the switch that activates it is VERY vulnerable, and easily bent...
Have the dealer check to make sure that it's properly hooked-up, and NOT bent!
Good luck!
(Don't ask me, why I know about bending them... :opps:)

I have noticed on our 11 RT that when you open the frunk look up by where the black cover is where you check the collant. On the right side. There is a small micro switch there. Look to see and make sure it isnt bent and is making contact when you shut the frunk. When people put the black piece back on they can hit it and knock it out of wack. I had an issue with ours and noticed it was bent enough not to make contact.

Do not want to be without

Came standard on my '10...I use it ALL the time...had the cable come loose once and realllllly missed. Having Pitbull install on my '14....

Not much to add--they have you covered. I like the trunk release button on my :ani29:'s. Sounds like a mechanical issue.

Well it's definitely a mechanical problem. I just went out and messed with it a bit and it doesn't even attempt to release the trunk when the button is pushed. Making a trip back to the dealership tomorrow to get it fixed. I was just there on Wednesday and didn't think to mention it, now I've got another long trip ahead of me. Oh well, I guess that's a good excuse to go for a ride!

Did you happen to pop it open (via the key), and take a look at the microswitch? :dontknow:

:agree: It is easy for the trunk liner or weatherstrip to get pulled loose and interfere with the switch, or for the switch lever to become bent or broken. If the weatherstrip or cargo pushes up on the lid it will not open readily, either. Finally, be sure to lubricate the latch and catch, although the latch may still need adjusting by your dealer.

Also, just an idea is to press down on your frunk at the back (near your lights) ..... that may activate the limit switch if that's the issue....do that with one hand while trying to activate the button with the key on....see if that works...then IF that works, you know that limit switch and/or your frunk is out of adjustment....just a thought....good luck.

What I did was open the frunk, then push down the catch latch and hold down the micro switch with my fingers while pressing the frunk button to see if there was any response at all. At first, I felt a feeble wiggle and heard a tiny noise as I did this, but after a couple of tries it actually completely stopped. No noise or movement at all.

Just another fix to add to a very long list. :banghead:
