• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front trunk release switch

Recently purchased a 2012 RT-S and I noticed today that my front trunk won't latch. I may have played with the switch (same as parking brake) but it won't latch. What am I doing wrong?!?!?

Sometimes have the same problem. Turn the key all the way to the right while pushing down, then slowly back til you hear the lock mechanism relax.

The turning of the key or the switch is only to unlock the trunk. Closing of the trunk is a mechanical operation. You may need to push down harder to get it to lock.

:welcome: Please take a closer look at the molding that goes around the top edge... If it's not securely in place; that can cause some trouble with getting the Frunklid to latch.

I had a similar problem on my 2014 RT Ltd, could open the frunk easily with the key, but many times I couldn't get it to latch closed. Tried all the fixes as suggested regarding the seal around it etc, and finally realised that it was the mechanism/latch that was actually sticking and preventing it from latching closed. So i popped off the 2 little covers under the windsheild/ frunk and liberally sprayed teflon spray onto the cable and mechanism/latch area. Locked and unlocked 20 times or so to make sure the Teflon was well spread out, and have had no problems since.

I had to elongate the screw holes in the lid and adjust the latch that is on the lid. Now works great. The other ideas wouldn't hurt either.

I ended up taking it to the Can Am service department and they adjusted the latch on the body of the bike. Said that the screws had loosened up and it had slid downward...mechanic had it fixed in a jiffy. Thanks for everyone's input...shows you guys care!

I had similar problem with my 2012 RT

When I bought our first new Spyder, a 2012 RT Limited. On our first trip, the front trunk (frunk) would not latch when I stopped at a store. How embarrassing, a brand new bike and people watching me work on it to get the front trunk lid closed and to stay latched.

What I found was the actual latch (bike side) was loose and was too low for the latching bar (on the hood) to latch. I got the tool kit out, loosed the two nuts/bolts and used a screwdriver to pull up on the latch itself. I got it aligned correctly and tightened down the bolts! Fixed...

You may want to check that. My seal was in place and no other issues. Good luck!
