Front Tires

remark2013

OK all, I have searched and read the posts about Tires and which is Best and what fits and does not. Now, what tires are do you have on your bike, specifically the 15" ones as I need to replace ours. I don't really want to know what people feel about said tire only what they are running. Hopefully this will not turn into a war about tires.

Kent.

P.S. I am only asking about the Front please.

As I see it...

Many find the oem tires up front do a good job. I have the second set on now....

FRONT TIRES

:agree: with Chewy above as far as front tires go. My concern is you MUST have almost PERFECT ALIGNMENT ( read ROLO / OUTLAW Lazer ) or they will wear faster than a car tire which has a harder rubber compound......I also think for what you get ( with a Kenda ) they are WAAAAAAAY over-priced.........good luck ...... Original Kenda

We have a 2014 RT Limited and are still running the original Kendas on the front. Somewhere around 9 or 10K miles I had the ROLO laser alignment done as the fronts were starting to show signs of cupping. They now have 24,000 miles on them and are just starting to touch the wear bars. We run 20 PSI in the fronts, 28 PSI in the rear. The rear was changed to a Kumho AST at 6,400 miles and that tire is now touching the wear bars... so we got 17,600 miles from the Kumho.

I have purchased the replacement rear and will have the dealer put Kendas back on the front. Most of the miles on the RT are double up riding (350lbs combined rider weight) and occasionally single aggressive riding.

Obviously we are satisfied with tire performance so far.

When the time comes, I may just replace my tires with the Kumho Solus...
Kumho Solus KH16 Radial Tire - 155/60R15 74T
But the OEMs have done a pretty good job.

Thanks all, this is the info I was hoping for!

Blueknight, I have had a ROLO alignment done, however tires were already cupped pretty bad so before we take off to Deadwood, I want new shoes on the front, just trying to decide. Again, thanks for all the reply's and please keep them coming.

.s..............Once tires are damaged ( especially the Kenda's ) they will wear faster and a PERFECT ALIGNMENT can't save them........it's just the way it is.........However now that your alignment is good the next set will last a lot longer.........Bob' D's suggestion is a very good alternative to the KENDA.......Mike

If you want cheap and long wearing then go with the Federal Evo, I got 30,000 miles out of them and they are the same size as the OEM Kenda. They don't handle that great though. I had always stuck with the Kenda's in the front until they went with too soft a compound and I didn't get 7,000 miles out of them. I'm back to them now, they weren't my first choice but I had no time to do anything else.

Not necessarily after a cheap tire, really wish I could get a General to match the rear, but think I am leaning towards a Kumho at this point.

OEM

Still running the original Kendas at 20K. Will change during the next oil change (24K). Thinking I'll stay with the Kenda. Dealer price mounted and balanced fo 2 is $250 plus tax. Don't know what others are paying. Seems like dealer is lower priced than many.
