Front tires

I seem to only get 9K out of the stock tires and I need to replace them before Spyderfest. When I replaced the rear a few years ago, the Kumho Ecsta AST was generally accepted as the best tire. Searching the forums now, I don't see any consensus on the front tires. In case I missed it, is there one model of replacement tire that people are generally flocking to?

There are some car tires that people have been using. Don't remember the brands--but the informatiion will be forthcoming soon.

My dealer will not install non BRP's so I run OEM's. My last set of fronts got 23,000 miles--but the other two sets got between 15,000 and 20,000. I watch my tire pressures and drive not to agressively.

Something is not right in your front end.

Unless there is a problem with your front end or your air gauge; you should not need to change your front tires. I have over 35K miles on my stock front tires and expect to get at least 50K miles or better out of them before they are in need of replacement. I often ride hard and have at least one fourth of my miles two up and one fourth two up, pulling a trailer. I'd look in to what is causing your tires to wear so quickly before I bought another set, just to watch them disappear too soon. I think Doc Doru got about 70K miles out his original front tires and nobody pushes their Spyder harder that I've met. Good luck on finding out what is eating your tires. :thumbup:

I suspect I have an alignment issue. Nevertheless, I still need new tires.

Bridgestone Potenzas pop in here a fair amount.
rnet might be able to give you some good advice about front tires... PM him! :thumbup:
He's got access to a different brand (perhaps Toyo?) that he swears by...

If you're getting over 25,000 miles off your front tires.... you're not riding hard at all.

Rumors of Doc getting 70,000 off his tires are just that... rumors..... no way... no how.... I'm not believing it.

I've never got more than 13,000 off my fronts and 8,000 off a rear... although on my RT I'm doing better as I don't ride as hard as I did on my GS.

Looking forward to trying my new Bridgestone Potenza's this week and seeing how they feel!

I am looking at replacing mine soon with Michelins 165-65-14. Dont know the price, but a friend of mine is a Michelin dealer.

Front end tuneup

Sounds like your Spyder needs the attention of a front end alignment specialist. Have him also check the toe-in could be a simple tweak of one wheel.

Q. Does it pull or want to go places on its own?
