early tire $wap$ can be expen$ive
+Re the poll, I replied yes, inner right.
I swapped out the wheels/tires on my 2008 GS with Bridgestone Potenzas (P165/65R14 78S for a Honda Fit) after a repeat concern of extreme inner wear on the front right tire. At the service for the first tire change I'd been told this wear was normal.
Granted, the service manual states, "It is normal to see uneven wear on tires depending on how the vehicle is driven and road conditions. The front tires external or internal edges tread will wear unevenly depending on if the vehicle is driven smoothly or aggressively." I ride very aggressively, but this kind of wear is abnormal. (Tires are presented as they'd be mounted looking at the front of the bike.)

I didn't take any lift/swap images when I brought the unmounted wheels to a tire service center, but simply loosen the lugs, lift under the forward left or right frame segment (or under the lower suspension arms per the service manual), swap the wheel/tire, remount it, drop it back down on hand-tightened lugs, then tighten them to spec (77 lbft). Very easy. Very nearly everybody should be able to do this themselves. The aggregate cost was $110 per tire (mounted) vs. $114 per stock tire (mounted).
The service manual warns to tread lightly (my poetic license) to allow the VSS to recognize new tires during a 186-mile break-in period, and it also warns that the VSS is calibrated for specific tires (size & tread pattern). My experience has shown them similar in feel to stock, likely due to the stock sizing equivalence.
These tires have already lasted 21,000 miles, with one rotation, and lots more miles left. (Since they're not available in RWL, I hand-painted mine.)
