• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Front Tire Feed back

Has anyone fitted other than Kenda tyres to the front? The only 165/65/R14 car tyres that I can find are only a T rating (190 kph). The Kenda are H (210 kph). However in some tyre catalogues, 175/60/R14 are suggested as an alternative size and these are H rated and a lot cheaper than the Kenda.

Also, even running my rear at 24 psi, I'm scrubbing out the centre of the tyre first. Anyone running lower?

I think I read about someone putting on 175s and they barely fit. He then went to 195s and had to modify the mounts for the fenders. Most companies will give actual tire dimensions rather than just the standard measurements. :spyder:

rear tire wears in the middle if you run at higher speeds and/or if you are hard on the throttle "Hammer Down!"

Just installed the Toyo and highly recommend.

I had car tires installed on my Spyder. Sumitomo HTR200. Found them at TireRack.com. It is a summer tire. They were the only tires I could find with the same tread for all three tires.

Front Tire Size 175/65R14
Rear Tire Size 225/50R15

Front tire is next size up in width, but they do not touch the fenders. I have put about 1,000 miles on the tires. I am running 20 pounds in the front tires and 27 pounds in the rear.

These tires ride and handle much better than the Kendas.

Thanks for all that. Even using car tires as an alternative, I've not found any tires (cars or otherwise) that carryover their pattern, speed rating or carrying capacity from 14 to 15". Seems that up to 14, vehicles are conservative and 15+ is the hooligan size.

I would not run a tire on any vehicle with a speed rating less than the speed the vehicle is capable of obtaining...even if I am never likely to reach that speed.

Tires

Hey, I had 185/60/14 on the spyder and they fit perfectly. No rubbing, No problems at all. But they were awsome compared to the stock tires. You will love them.I think they wre the Falken 512s. I sold them to another spyder lover. Now I have 205/55,14 love those even more. But I had to modify the fenders and brackets. Good luck. I think you can see some pics in the link below.

Me too. A "190kph tyre" means something like sustained speed for a time period (say 1 hour). Even though I don't ride at sustained speed of 190kph for an hour (or even get to that speed), I do ride at 110-120kph for up to 2 - 2.5 hours (or the tank runs dry - damn). And that can be as bad, particluarly on the Australian B & C class roads in warm weather on our very coarse crushed rock & bitumen surface.

Take a look at the Proxes T1-R by TOYO they are V rated some of the Spyderlovers have used the rear and had good reports. Still waiting for the mileage don't think anyone has had them on long enough to tell. They are V rated 240 KPH or 150MPH well over what we would do. The fronts have the same pattern and come in 185 so they should fit. I am thinking about these for the front and back when I change tires, I think they should be assume and last longer as well. :2thumbs:

175 fit fine on the spyder. Got a flat tire on the way down to the BBQ on Sunday 175 miles from home nothing opened on Sunday and nearest dealer closed Sunday and Monday a man came by who just changed his car tires 175 and we tried it worked out fine
