• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front Shaking

The severe shaking started last week,almost too much to tolerate.
 
Front tires

My 2011 RT was doing the shake at 45 mph. After balancing little improvement, swapped tires and wheels from one side to the other and shake was gone. Stock Kendas looked like new and were wearing evenly across. New front tires end of problem (not Kendas).

Front end shaking is NOT normal and is a sign something is going wrong and needs tending to.

I really hate dealers that respond this way when they simply don't know what is wrong or are too lazy to figure it out.

Customers get this all the time from dealerships for just about every aliment a Spyder may have. And it's about 99% bull pucky! The front end should never shake on a Spyder. If it does, something is wrong and needs to be addressed.

I don't know if the dealerships say this because they don't know how to fix it, of if they just don't want to deal with it.

As many have said, it's probably wheel balance (fixable). Or it may be a cord separation issue (not fixable). Especially if you have Kenda tires. But it can also be worn front end components like A-Arm bushings or tie rod ends. Though these will usually give you more shaking when braking.

shaking front end

The last couple of runs I made on my RT my front end would shake between 43-46mph only, then run smooth at any other speed. Saturday I checked my tires for air pressure and found my front tires both @ 18 psi so I raised them to 20 psi cold and went for a run with my neighbor on his HD and I found that I no longer had any shaking at any speed. Since I'm new to the Can Am from 2 wheels, I guess on these bike just 2 psi can make a big difference or at least on OEM tires and with just over 12K mi. and no sign of cupping or alignment problems.:shocked:
 
Front Shaking/Cupping

Beginning of the season I had oil change done and had them verify that the shaking in the front at 45 mph was due to cupping
on the tires. They agreed. Considering they are about to hit 35,000 miles I think I made out better than most others. Even the
rear OEM I swapped out with a car tire at about 18,000...it is still doing great. I will match my fronts with the replacement rear
but I am surprised to see the very low mileage that everyone else appears to be getting. I know they are cheapo tires but still the
front end should have a lot less wear as it generates far less traction needs.
