• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front fender tip lights

For those last ones I did this:

Found my photos using Explorer (again - NOT Internet Explorer).

Right click and tell it to 'Open With' and then select Internet Explorer.

The photo will then open up in an IE Browser window.

Then you can right click on it, select properties, and get a URL to copy and paste.

Still didn't work.....

I'm not sure why anyone would use IE to browse files on their local computer..... doesn't make sense.

So what gives?

Obviously someone has posted photos at some point?

Here is one from another website:

Well... those photos posted.....

So you can only post photos from an actual website ????

Sorry man... but that is gonna be a royal PITA......

Gotta be a better way...

Only problem with the "after" photo, no ground path for the small bulb!!!

A circuit can't have 2 live wire inputs with no path to ground! Not only will this not work for a directional set up,
but without a ground the small bulb won't even light. The 194 series of bulbs like this only have 2 contacts, one for input and one for ground. So you can't have 2 inputs and no ground.

There is No Magic here in how any of this works, nor is it open to change. That's why when it comes to electricity the principles that govern how it works is called Ohm's Law not Ohm's suggestions.

Best way I've found to post pictures to any forum is to use a photo host site like PhotoBucket. You load pictures from your computer to PhotoBucket then use PhotoBucket to link your pictures to forums. I'm not sure but does CanAmTalk host the pictures that you upload? That would be the only way to load pictures from your computer directly to your post.

Well Magic man.... sorry... but while this might not work for the stock spyder setup... it is a sound circuit that does work.

Instead of the sidemarkers being wired across parking lamp feed and ground, they're wired across parking lamp feed and turn signal feed.

The side marker bulb socket is isolated from ground, and one bulb lead goes to the running lamp positive circuit. The other lead is tied into the turn signal positive lead.

When the parking lights are on and the turn signal off, it grounds through the turn signal filament and illuminates the marker lamp. When the turn signal flashes, it interrupts the ground and the marker will flash. When the running lights are off, the process is reversed, with the ground being through the filaments of the running light circuit, and the marker will flash in sync with the turn signal instead of alternately.

The problem with the Stock Spyder is that it doesn't have a running light that also flashes... so you do need to add a unit to do that. I have the backlight kit from Ken @ evoluzione.net which does this--- it converts the tail light so it not only is a running light.... it also flashes when the blinker is turned on.

I would gladly buy a kit to do this...... if they are reasonable in price.....

When will you have them available on your site for ordering?

I installed amber 194NA lamps on my silver Spyder. I like the look and the original white light was in my field of vision so at night it looked like a headlight behind me reflecting in the side mirror. Now I know if the source is a fender running light or in my mirror. :doorag:

I know this is an old thread but I would like to see some smoked fender lights,

Look at the roof markers and the side clearance markers on the rear fenders on my truck,
they are smoked from a company called racon

I like it, I am 6' w/33 inseam and got the large. Just the right height to look over but not get hit with the wind..

I don't know how many of you also thought that the white fender tip lights on your Spyder look out of place? In my case being I have a yellow unit it seemed to look even worse with the white lights against the yellow paint. I have found the perfect replacement for these in the 5 watt rating needed in an amber bulb which looks 1000% better in these tip lights. It is a number 2827 style bulb available at most auto parts stores. After changing mine I was very happy on how such a small, cheap and easy to do thing made the bike look so much better.

I just bought a set from Advanced Auto and popped them in.

Looks = 100% better on the millennium yellow

Brightness = Not as piercing as the white bulbs

Since my :spyder: has the Xenon Headlights and Fog Light upgrade, the fender tips being as visible isn't as much a concern to me as the looks :2thumbs:

please explain as to Doesn't Work??

Thank you

I'm sure he can give a specific reason why it doesn't work for him but windshields are a very personal thing. Some windshields get rave reviews from one rider while another rider absolutely hates it. It depends on what you are used to and what performance you are looking for in a windshield.

Examples:
I had ridden on my wife's Spyder with an F1 windshield and an EVO III and neither one worked for me. She liked her F1 and just loves her EVO III. I will say that the EVO III is much better for my needs (mainly wind noise reduction) than the F1 was.

I had Marcel's new (original size) slide screen and I did not like it. The slider windshield would not raise high enough to do what I want a taller windshield to do, give me wind noise reduction at 55 MPH and faster. That same windshield was put on SpyderRyder810's Spyder and she said it worked great for her.

I have an EVO II windshield that gave great wind protection and wind noise reduction but I don't like the looks. I have a new taller version of the slider and I like the looks and it gives me good performance.

After a couple of weeks with the amber bulbs I think I prefer the white (clear). They better match the headlights when viewed head-on and look less pumpkin'ish (amber lights on yellow fenders). Switching back to original bulbs. Nice to have options like this however ... especially at less than $1.50 per fender ... and the change-out couldn't be any simpler thanks to the specific instructions posted hereon by you wonderful folks.

Ken

I am going to replace my lights with yellow tomorrow.
I think I read some where that the white lights sometimes confuse people driving at night when the see it coming up behind them.:yikes:

I installed the amber lights on my silver Spyder. I really like this look and agree with McGone. Now it doesn't look like there is someone behind me. It was getting annoying.
