There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Front Brake Replacement mileage

Hello Spyder lovers

I recently replaced my rear brakes on 2012 CAM Spyder RT with 17000 miles, I am wondering about the front, I tried to inspect them, but its hard to see the amount of pad left without taking off the front tires. I was wondering what is the average mileage that front brakes need to be replaced?

Thanks

Typically, on the 2008-2012 Spyders, the rear pad set wears at about twice the rate of the fronts. BRP placed a heavy bias on the rear brakes on these early models. They felt it helped to anchor (stabilize) the Spyder when braking. So the rear pads come on first and release last. If you ride and brake hard, this effect of bias and brake wear is lessened. But for normal driving where not a lot of brake pressure is applied, the 2 to 1 wear ratio tends to hold true. Of course the only way to be sure is to do whatever is necessary to visually inspect both inside and outside pads on each front wheel. While it should be that the front pads wear evenly. It is often the case where 1 pad will wear more quickly.

To get better braking and longer service life from your pads. I highly recommend the Semi-Sintered pads from EBC.

My experience has been exactly what BajaRon said, 2 rear pads replacement to 1 front. And his EBC pads are great.

:agree: also ..... if you think taking the front wheels off are a challenge .... actually changing the Pads may NOT be something you want to tackle ....Not dissing you, just something to consider ...... a line from a Clint Eastwood movie " a man has to know His limitations " ..... comes to mind here .....good luck .... No it's not a challenge to remove the front wheels or the brakes, I have done brakes on all my vehicles for the past 40 years, to include motorcycles. Just really want to get a general ideal on when to check them, I wait to 20,000 remove the wheels and then I will do a visual. Thanks for the help.
