• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front and rear brakes

Hello all, this is going to be my first time ever installing brake pads. Tell me if this is the right sequence for changing the rear brake pads. Chalk the front tires, then start the spyder, then while it is running shut the parking brake off then shut the spyder off. It will beep for 15 seconds or so, then I can jack the spyder up in the air and put jack stands under it. Then I can remove the 2 bolts holding on the caliper and hold it while pulling it down. Then remove the small cotter pin and the clip then the bolt so I can take the pads out. Then reassemble in the reverse order. The same sequence for the fronts I assume.
I just ordered a complete set from Bajaron.

Oh ya it is a 2015 RTL

Pretty much...

The only addition would be open the resivior and remove some fluid so when you screw in the piston it will retract that way the pads will fit into the caliper and onto the disc on reassembly ...

Don't need to start the bike, just turn the key on so you can disengage the parking brake. Turn the key off and let the beeping sound until it stops. Lowering the rear swing arm will give you better access to the caliper bolts so removing the lower shock mount would help. Check youtube videos.

Rear brakes

I jack up bike. Use an extension on the rachet wrench. Have a helper step on handle. Repeat. Remove both caliper bolts. Remove clip, then torx pin. Pads slip out. Use needle nose pliers in piston divots to turn pin in, clockwise. Turn until flush. Install pads, pin, clip. Slip caliper over rotor, apply locktite, insert bolts. Pump brake pedal. Go ride!

You all forgot to mention flush and bleed the brakes. A brake job is not complete without it. The spyders require it every two years anyway. Takes about 2 pints of DOT4 fluid.

I thought there were 2 torx bolts that actually hold the pads on that have to be removed. How do you remove the parking brake if you want to? Thanks Mike

On a 2013 and up rear brake there is only one pin with a torx head that needs to be removed to replace the pads. No need to remove the parking brake cable to change pads. There is no separate parking brake, the cable actuates the same caliper as the service brakes.
