• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster here! My wife and I recently picked up our 2012 RT-S, and we are loving every minute of it. We've only managed to put about 500 miles on it thus far, so our first check-up is coming up fast.

A quick question for you guys/gals: About how long does the 'break in' inspection and maintenance last? Will I need to have my wife follow me in with her car, or can I just wait it out at the dealership (pending other work ahead of my vic, you know)?

Thanks for any info you might be able to provide! Good to finally post on here. :p

Teddy & I would like to say Congrats on the New Ryde & Welcome to the SpyderHood

As for your 1st Service Appointment, it all depends on your dealers Service Dept. It is a quite involved check-up with oil change and Buds hook-up etc...... Seems many dealers require the Spyder to be left for Service, while a few of the better dealers will work you in. Only way to know is to call your particular dealer and ask for an appointment and see what they tell you. Depending on your dealers Service rates, don't be surprised to spend between $150-$300 for your 1st Service, as most have reported, unless of course you already have some form of arrangement or prepaid Service Plan with your dealer, they are ALL different. Anyways, welcome to the SpyderHood!

Depends on how fast the dealer can get to it. I usually have to leave mine for two to three days. At my dealer, motorcycles and Spyders are at the bottom of the list.

Almost forgot, welcome to the best Spyder site around.

Call ahead..!!

Welcome...I call in advance and tell them and remind them that I will be waiting for it. That way the mark the work order "customer waiting" . But it does depend on the dealer...:thumbup:

Welcome, when I first got a Spyder I had no choice but to wait for service to be completed. I always made sure to let them know when I made the appointment that I would be waiting for it and I never had any problems. The first service probably did take around 2 hours to complete.

make a appt then just stick around and window shop at the dealership talk to other people if there interested in the spyder..thats what i do..costs 0.00..prepaid mtc..

:welcome: to the site and :congrats: on the new ryde.

Pretty much what was said above concerning that 600 mile service. The cost is up there--most are close to the $300 mark. Appointments are good--if your dealer will take them and then honor them.

I usually drop my :spyder2: off in the morning. Have an appt. made so I am supposed to be first up for the day. Always pick up the :ani29: between four and closing time. I don't like to wait, even though I am friendly with all the staff. Give the mechanics time to do a good job so they won't feel rushed, and the :spyder2: will get a better check up IMO. :thumbup:

:welcome: & :congrats: you admitted that you've been lurking so you know all about how great a site this is.

By the way, where in Eastern Virginia?

Welcome to the Pary!! :ohyea::yes::ohyea::yes::ohyea:
:congrats:on the new ride; here's to hoping for lots of miles and smiles for you guys! :thumbup:

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new :spyder:. I agrere with most of the above posts..........make an appointment and ask if you can wait while the service is performed. They should be able to give you an idea how busy they will be and how long it will take!:2thumbs:
