• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Times and speed

You meaner were supposed to look down at the end of the run? Most of us were busy trying to get the bikes stopped before the trees got close.

yes if the F3s didn't miss a shift and got a descent start they won.

RS class I lost out in the finals to Ricky Peterson , I think that's his name. On his wife's custom RS.

Kind of sounding like to me that the F3 isn't really much faster than the RS. :dontknow:

I am wondering this as well. Having ridden both, I can say that I think the RS would get off the line first. Since the F3 is fly by wire, there is a slight pause when you first twist the throttle from a stop. However, the extra 9HP and 19 lb·ft of torque can push the F3's extra 150 lbs dry weight pretty fast over a 1/4 mile distance.

Of course, you need to factor in the riders weight and fuel weight which is much more of an issue on such a light vehicle. Then there is the intangible of the riders aggressiveness.

In the end, the RS might have an edge on the F3 in a drag race and I would love the chance to test that out if I can make it to SpyderFest next year.

In an Isle of Man TT style race with turns... I do believe the F3 would beat the RS easily. (Enzo Ferrari was once quoted as saying "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races".)

There is an idea for SpyderFest 2016, Have a timed twisties race.

One last thing. The SE6 and SM6 are both manual shift. If you don't hit the paddle, the bike stays in first gear. It's still up to the rider to decide when to shift.

Many professional drag racers now use fully automatic two speed transmissions because it takes out the human element of shifting and allows them to tweak the machine for best performance.

THE " DRAG RACES "

Sorry but I can't keep my mouth shut about this ........This was really " STREET RACING ".......PERIOD ......no warm-up, no testing, like in previous years , Run what you brung........Maybe " Don Garlits and or Chi Chi Muldowney can just show up and throw down a record run with their ride ( I'm dating myself ,I know :roflblack: ),....but I can't. I worked on my Spyder all Winter, put in a custom K & N air filter with a custom blower fan etc. and drove from the basement to my Truck , loaded it and drove to Spyderfest........Yes I did drive it before the Drag Race, but that's not racing it ........whole different ball game.......Prior to the those MODS I really had to work at breaking the rear tire loose. At the Drags I couldn't get the rear to HOOK-UP......It just kept spinning.....and spinning isn't accelerating :gaah:........When I got home, I lowered my REAR tire to 15 PSI.........Holy Cr*ppola , totally different machine .......Now it was a " CHIRP " AND LOOK OUT .......coming out of shute 5 like a freight train.......I was now getting the acceleration I was sure had been there all the time , just hadn't found it yet..........I am well aware of " BAR STOOL BS etc " and No I don't have Dyno numbers but I do know the before and after effects of what I did and I'm not reversing it :D :D :D, I think I found something. If I do a " CAT Delete " this may become even more impressive. ........Mike

 You didn't think about tire pressures when you were there?? :banghead:
I suppose that we can chalk that up to missing Dee... :D
You weren't in your right mind! :yikes:

I think the F3 guys are going to be looking for significantly stickier tires than Kuhmos for replacements.....
