There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Four weeks and counting

It's been exactly four weeks that Ed's bike has been in the shop with a malfunctioning gear position sensor. :cus: The part came in last Saturday but the service guy couldn't get to the Spyder until Wednesday. The part from BRP didn't match what was taken off; the dealer emailed BRP for instructions. Meanwhile, Ed's been feeling up to riding but has no bike. :gaah:

is the mechanic a graduate from the Helen Keller School of Motorcycle repair?

how did he order the wrong part? maybe if he looked at the Spyder longer than 2 minutes he might have ordered the right part......:banghead:

This is the kind of stuff that really gets my ire up. It indicates a dealership, parts dept, or mechanic that does not care about the customer or giving good service. Take their vehicle and put it in your garage for a month and see how happy they would be.

I would be far from being nice to these people. Once the job gets completed, I would find another servicing dealer.

I recommend some free advertising--they don't deserve the business they currently have. I would also call the customer service number at BRP. You have a legitimate complaint--maybe BRP can get the ball rolling for you.

New Up graded part?

Just talked to the Service manager/technican, He was telling me the part they got has a different size shaft and a different mounting setup, the part number is the correct, as far as he knows, but he has called and email BRP and is waiting on them to respond as to what they are suppost to do. So I put a lot of this back on BRP for not sending all the parts if it is and update and takes an adapter to mount it or if it is the wrong part. BRP could at least let the dealer know something in a timely manner, as to what is going on.

The service manager was telling me that everyday he has to address why he still has a bike in the shop and waiting on parts or technical helps isn't a good answer as far as he is concerned, but sometimes that is the only answer. Who knows what is going on with getting my :spyder2: fixed, as of now looks like I will do a second round of chemo with even an extra week between rounds and that is after taking it in a week before starting the last round. Took it in the 20th of Oct and looks like it will be in Dec before getting it back.

Of course the dealer is closed Sunday and Monday, so the first change the dealer will have to hear from BRP is Tuesday then the dealer will be closed on Thursday (Thanksgiving), so BRP only have three days next week to talk to the dealer.

Your patience is amazing. Please keep us posted on the continuing saga. At least your dealer is talking with you--that is a lot more than some of the stories we hear about service nightmares.

I would still call customer service at BRP. The more people you have working on your problem the better. It would not even hurt to mention you are a member of SL. They do watch what goes on here.

I won't take my Spyder there at all. I use Gulf Shores Power Sports over on 59 just south of the Pottery on the right side heading towards the beach.

We had previously been told that if parts are taken off another bike in the showroom then they are not covered under the warranty...:dontknow: if that's true or not. Dealer is closed Sun-Mon, so we won't be hearing anything before Tuesday at the earliest. I'd have to say the blame for the delay is split between BRP and the dealer...this is getting ridiculous, though! We're working around a small window of time when Ed feels good enough to ride between chemo cycles...it's frustrating, to say the least.

I would suggest that in the future you take your Spyders over to Gulf Shores for maintenance and warranty work.

PARTS ISSUES

I know this won't help you and I'm sorry for your troubles but......A friend of mine had to replace the same GPS in an 08 Spyder.....He contacted " PROCALIBER.COM " received the part and fixed the :spyder: in a week. The part was 15 % less than OEM, no tax, and shipped free..............go figure this one out.......Mike...............and Good Luck .........And PS He didn't have to do anything with the " Computer ", it reset itself ?????

That sounds like a real load... :gaah: If they plug YOUR bike's V.I.N. in to the paperwork, the computers wouldn't know whose bike got what part...

Thanksgving Day...and we are still waiting.

Stopped by the dealer on Wed. after a PGR mission to see what was going on with Ed's Spyder...more new parts were sent by BRP. The mechanics were working on the bike when we were there. Service manager wasn't real excited about the replacement parts, either, since they didn't seem to work like the old ones did. They wanted to have time to drive the bike a little after replacing the parts to make sure it ran OK since they were worried about the replacement parts. Hopefully we'll get a call Friday that we can pick up Ed's Spyder. It's our last free weekend before he starts his chemo again next week.

Maybe I can hit yall up on Sunday, I will be traveling all day Saturday.

Finally got Ed's bike back! 3 days before he goes back for more chemo

Finally managed to get Ed's Spyder out of the shop late yesterday afternoon...we rode for about an hour, visited friends (well, I was showing off my RT, actually) and had dinner with our youngest. Boy, is his :spyder2: dusty/dirty after sitting in the shop since Oct. 20th!

He should have had at least had a free bike wash...my MINI always comes back washed and vacuumed after she's at the dealer for service!

We rode with George and Carol White from Missouri today. Hopefully we'll get some of the local Gulf Coast Spyder Riders together for a ride tomorrow. Then Ed starts Round #5 Monday.
