• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Found my leak

Looks like it's the piston seal. Should be an easy fix.

Good job buddy.... I need some stuff installed on my Spyder! When do I bring it by? :ohyea:

Got it all back together just now. To be honest I'm kind of glad I had this problem because now maybe I can help another member in the future if something like this shows up again.

I didn't have to remove the piston like I did but I wanted to inspect those seals too. The hardest part for me was getting that giant snap ring back on. nojoke

After I swapped the o-ring I found the part on the bad one in the cover. It's nice when you know you found the problem. :doorag:

This was the bad one.

I was able to run it with the cover off and check for leaks. All is well.

Hows a guy get that lucky! If that was me it would be a inner crank seal or the like. Must have been assembled dry, great fix none the less. keep up the good work. Gene

Nice work Lamont!

Just wondering, how many miles did you have on your Spyder when you noticed the oil leaking from this problem?

thanks, again nice work!
Cheers.

About 300 on this RT. My last RT had 2500+ with no leaks and two of the other RT5 guys have over 10,000+ with no leaks. It's not a mileage thing, it's a bad part thing.

I guess after the last experience, you weren't inclined to give it back to let them fix it, huh?
I guess that was part of it but to tell you the truth I don't mind problems like this. It gives me a chance to get to know the RT and maybe I can help someone else in the future. :doorag:
