• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Found a big design flaw with the 1st Gear Riding Suit

I live and ride in Scotland. Here it rains quite a lot, sometimes it seems it's wet more than its dry, so we understand wet weather gear. One really important rule is that any zip not only can leak, but will leak. So pockets in the outside are fine, pockets on the inside are fine, but openings from the outside to the inside will let water in. So either put your wallet in an outside pocket for ease of access or right inside in a chest pocket to keep it warm and dry. If you use an outside pocket, put it in a plastic zip-lock bag, even if it's 'waterproof' pocket as they never are!

easy fix

take it to a Taylor and have them make cutouts where you want them and put a velcro flap over the slit for easy access

:agree: . . . and cold gets through zippers, too . . . the suit is designed to keep you warm and dry . . . and does a great job. Put your wallet in one of the provided pockets!

One-piece rainsuits do the same thing. Every zipper is a liability. Find another place for your wallet when you wear your suit.

A Man Purse, I got mine with NRA stitched on the flap and even has room for two additional 16 round magazines :clap:Goes in the trunk. Never go anywhere without my wallet.

I try never to ride with my wallet in my back pocket as it will cause back or leg pain. So I tend to put it in my jacket pocket even when I am wearing only a jacket and jeans. I do have riding pants that have zippers on the side of each leg that go from the bottom all the way to the top and when I forget to remove my wallet I still struggle to remove it.
As others have said put it in one of the outside pockets of the suit for easy accesses.

I've had my First Gear thermal riding suit a little over a year and today I found the first major flaw with it. Granted I haven't done a lot of cold weather riding and for some of what I did do I wore my First Gear Kilimanjaro coat which is absolutely great. Anyway, today was my first official ride of 2014. I rode to work this morning and since it was only 38º when I left for the 38 mile ride I decided to wear the thermal suit. I discovered the major flaw when I stopped to fill the Spyder gas tank. I damn near had to completely undress to get my wallet out of the back pocket of my jeans. :yikes: I think this is the first set of coverall type suit/clothing I've ever owned that did not have a way to access pockets without taking the suit off. I may be rethinking when I will wear this thing again.
I just put my wallet/keys/cell phone in the center glove compartment or in front trunk pocket & provides Easy access

It is easy access; just make sure that others don't see you putting anything in there.. they might appreciate that "easy access" also!

:opps: Sorry...
I just hate getting calls that start like, :lecturef_smilie: "HEY!! some :cus: stole my :cus:; while I was off the bike..." :gaah:
Besides; your Homeowner's policy deductible is rarely met in instances like this...

You insurance types.... Always seeing the black cloud inside the silver lining....

Ah, Ron, That's the Joe Public perception on the Insurance man's lot.
Insurance guys are perpetually between a rock and a hard place. It's a very difficult job that requires skill, diplomacy and honesty.
They see the the real world which is jammed full of bad guys, opportunists and fraudsters while we mortals just imagine most folks
to be honest!
In fact being an insurance broker is more of a vocation than an occupation. The hours are long and the rewards are small.

Did I miss anything, Bob??

I fixed that problem

I have the first Gear you talk of and found the same trouble, when I got back to the shop I went to
work I cut a slot over the pocket area and put a zipper in it now I just unzip it and reach in for my
wallet.
Take your riding outfit to a GOOD upholstery shop that does car upholstery and have them put in a
good marine zipper, should run around $30 to $40

Definitely hit the head before suiting up!:roflblack:

Y'all have issues with getting to your wallet?

Try doing the dance getting to the ladies restroom and forget everything you have to take off.

Been there, done that while skiing once, won't risk it again.

MurphyBrown, you are a greater lady than I...

Understood. Just couldn't resist the opportunity to give you a hard time!

There are 3 Well Made Outside pockets secured with a Velcro flap that you have to Pull Off and If Its Raining there is a BIG INSIDE chest pocket that will fit your Wallet, Cell phone, and Keys?
I can,t understand How Picky people get? Its made for a Cold Weather function- Not a leisure suit.nojoke

I agree, it is not that hard to think ahead and put things you are going to need or want somewhere besides your inner clothing pockets. I always use the pockets in the suit and find they are very convenient!!
