• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For those that sold their Spyder

Three Months.. ticked off... I would be breathing fire and camping in the dealers. That is just not on. What a shame to have lost the summer also.
I got a DPS and a guy from the U.K. to fit it and no problems since two months. I could say that it would be worth the wait, but I know that it will never be the same for you again. I hope you have alternative transport.
My favourite bike was Suzuki Bandit, comfortable and reliable and fast when needed.
Wishing you all the best.

sent you a private message couple of months ago here on Spyderlovers but never heard from you. do you still have your :spyder2:?

I've been looking at a Buell Ulysses or a used Kawasaki Concours for a two wheeler. I think they fit the way I like to ride the best.

Buells are great! I have an '06 XB12Ss, and the only real issue was a bit of "coughing" while cruising and a cooling fan that was replaced under warranty. The coughing was an easy fix (rerouted the crankcase breather hose so that it vented outside, rather than back into the intake). XB's are extremely low maintenance; fluid changes and tires are about the extent of it. Great torque from the 1203cc, and I consistently get 52 mpg. Several parts are interchangeable with H-D Sportsters as well. On the downside, most H-D service departments don't like to work on them, or even know how. If you get one, badweatherbikers.com is the best place to find technical info. There is also some free software floating around that gives you direct access to the ECM, so you can create your own tunes, check trouble codes, reset the TPS, etc, but I think it only works for the bikes using DDFI 1 and 2 fuel injection, not DDFI 3 (2008+, I believe).

On the Ural, I saw someone say they maxed out at 60 mph. My father-in-law was interested in one, so we found a dealer and chatted him up. Dealer said that, yeah, they'll hit 60, but handling at that speed is scary and not safe at all. A more realistic top speed is around 45-50 mph. Just FYI.

Boy, am I sad and surprised at all the probs. m hearing about today. I have about 7,000 mi. on my RS SE5 and have not had a speck of trouble. When I took it in for my 6,000 mi. maintenance, my Portland dealer put on the new DPL and have had no complaints. I'm in Mexico at the moment and worry a bit about the cobblestones and potholes. I put 25 lbs. in the tires and the suspension to the max. Made a big difference. My mods: Seal FloorBoards, HeliBar raisers and large windshield all add greatly to the ride. The only change i'd make is maybe to trade up to an RT SE5. Maybe next summer. I'm a Can Am believer!

I had a Ural Patrol (2wd) for 3 years and decided to sell it and the Honda and get a Spyder in June. I loved riding both of them and every one of now enjoying the RS just as much.

I miss the Ural from time to time and btw, it sucked in a blizzard of 2 ft of snow on the mountain!!! When we got 4 ft, I left it in the garage....;)

When I picked up my RT A&C back in July I knew that it was a first year effort from BRP, but decided that the ability to get back out in the wind was worth it... After four and a half months and 3500 miles (a month off for foot surgery:shocked:...) I'm still happier than a pig in fresh poop with it! :2thumbs: You can always find fault with something if you pick at it long enough, and maybe I've just been lucky, but my bike has been trouble-free and fun-filled! If I HAD to replace it tomorrow, I'd be at the Can Am dealer's door before he was even open!
