• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For those that sold their Spyder

Great choice. My Wife (1spydercat1) and I passed by one that looked very similar to this one last week on a ride. His was a different color, kind of a Maroon. It looked like he had been on the road a while, but was kicked back just enjoying the cruise. We gave each other the big wave and off we went. Pretty cool machine! I don't know what it is exactly, perhaps a custom build. I mean, look at the engine on this thing!!

Looks like a Boss Hoss trike.

I guess my question is: Why would any of this be on a SPYDER LOVERS forum?

Chris PE # 0004

Because we are a toy oriented group of people. Seems like quite a few of us like other toys too. If I had more coin in my pocket, I'd have other bikes in the garage with the Spyder :2thumbs:

I sold my Phantom and replaced it with an RTS. Still have the turbo Busa for when the need for speed comes up, or when I want to catch up to Doc. So far, other than suspension and brakes/clutch issues, the RTS has been reliable.

Wife drives the Spyder now and I have a 98 Honda ST1100A. I missed two wheels, hence the motorcycle purchase. The Honda sport tourer is about the best motorcycle for long range touring I have owned. But..

Now I m thinking of going back to 3 wheels, actually an RS-S. Possibly later this fall,or next year.

I did the opposite. I went from a Honda ST1100 to the RT.

I'm sorry the original poster is having so much trouble with his Spyder. Months in the shop for repairs is absurd. Definitely call Carlo. Definitely take this up with the regional representative. Definitely a problem with that dealer. ABSOLUTELY UNCONSCIONABLE !

YOU CAN NOT PLEASE THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went from This VTX1800R to my RS Loved the VTX also heres the way I look at it . I also am an auto tech. and it seems you are GOD when the job is done. Then Lord hang on when the customer gets bored again!! You are back to a WORTHLESS NO GOOD. Oh well nothing last forever. Think I will go enjoy a ride on my spyder :2thumbs:

I bought my Spyder below wholesale and was gonna ride it around for a few months and then sell it for profit .... two years and four more thousand dollars later, I still have the Spyder and loving it.:D

Problems

Im new to the site. Decided to read up. I have 08 roadster and have had problems with DPS. First in January on highway trying to take exit with curve and it wouldn't turn. Scared crap out of me and hardly drove after. Shop said reset it. Then I finally got it out to ride when weather cooled of to the lonestar rally. Almost died on way home. Going 73 on highway and starts pull to right when I try very hard to go straight it jerks and steering feels loose. So now I'm scared and paid cash for my bike. Not sure what to do? I was a spider lover very proud, now:gaah::spyder2: I feel like fool.????

Have you had the DPS recall performed? It will cost you nothing and perhaps will retore some confidence in riding your Spyder. Seriously, make a call to your drealer. Get this done!

:agree:
It's the DPS.Get to a dealer and get it replaced. It's a world-wide re-call and you are entitled to it.Your Ryde will be fine after you have it replaced.
This sounds like my first post to this site.

Those that sold their Spyder

I'm fairly new to the forum. I have yet to purchase a Spyder. My uneasiness continues. The concept of the Spyder is brilliant. The devil is in the details.
My reason for looking at a Spyder was I was getting tired of holding up a 700+ lb motorcycle and I'm not getting any younger. That said,I have still considered a Honda ST1300 or on a lesser note a BMW FS800ST.
I would like to think the 2012, or 2013 Spyder RT would have the majority of the big issues resolved. I'm really impressed with it. Those that have had good luck with them really love em. Surely a company as big as BRP will respond positively to customer input. Quality and reliability should be number one. Unquestioned customer service is right up there. That's how you stay in business. We'll see what the next year brings regarding my decision.

If you get a good Spyder I feel they are the best bike out there. I unfortunately did not ,my RT's battery was dead in 2 days after deivery. That was February . As of this month it has had 4 Batteries, Command Module, 2 ignition switches , Instrument Cluster and master am/fm radio unit and BRP is still experimenting with it. Has been in shop for 2 1/2 weeks this time and still no fix. If I could afford another bike it probably would be a Harley Trike. My wife owns a Harley and the dealer has been great taking care of any issues. I cannot say that for BRP as I have been totally frustrated with the way they have handled the electrical issues my RT has.

I've been enjoying being passenger with HDX for long hauls. Day trips and not too far I'll take the Spyder. I used to ride it long haul and I do have the extended warranty but I just like riding on the back of a Harley right now. I'm a teeny weeny bit uneasy taking the Spyder too far for fear of no dealers being near by if something were to happen. I would like to see who else comes out with a reverse trike. I've been toying with two wheels again but I really don't want two vehicles. Well it would be nice if I had no debt but an extra vehicle isn't in the cards for me just yet. I am gonna keep the Spyder until I see who else comes out with another reverse trike. Spyder isn't a bad machine, it just needs some tweeking, more dealerships and more dealers that know how to fix them. I do like riding it, it's alot of fun, just uneasy about potential breakdowns in the middle of nowhere. I know other bikes break too but this thing has so much into it - computer-wise, it seems so sensitive to every little thing and that is what makes me nervous when it comes to taking long trips with it. Between dps, limp mode, cracking coolant bottles - am I supposed to ride with a trunk full of spare parts? So that is the thing that bums me out a little.

Now if nobody comes out with anything and I wasn't gonna go two wheels, I would really love this..... was looking at it a while back - hdx wants one for blizzard ridin! We would fight over who gets to ride it:2thumbs:

You probably would have no trouble with the electric on this one.
Also they have a mount for a machine gun for this one, Spyder does not.
Design bugs were worked out a couple years ago.

Have fun, ride safe.

I rode a 2008 Spyder for over a year, loved it with no real problems. I loved the handling on the Dragon. My only concern was the foot placement. It was up and back, which pain in my thighs. Part of that was wieght and age,
I bought a RT in April and love it. I love all of this one. The only problem was going into limp mode every now and then. I would stop and shut it off, turn it back on and it would be fine. Then at SITS, I talked to a factory guy (forgot the name, sorry) and found out even a very mild pressure on the brake pedal for a small amount of time would indicate a brake fault and the Spyder would into Limp mode. I now made a point of not being close to the pedal, no problems in last two thousand miles.

Old Dog, I'm on the exact same page as you, in fact, probably on the same line. I have and love my VTX 1300 with absoluetly no problems after 13,000 miles and solid as a rock. I wish I could put everything from my VTX on an RT frame. Even though my trigger finger is still itchy, I will bide my time and watch this forum and we'll both hide and watch. Let's keep in touch.

I'd love to own a Ural 2wd with sidecar for the many backroads and logging roads here in BC. Not worried about lack of dealerships, Urals are simple enough to fix. And I'd keep my Spyder for the pavement, of course. I love ryding and I don't give up easy.
