• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spring means sunny days, cooler temps and pop up storms!! You will get no complaints from this #Minnesota girl!! Making it easier to ride in the rain, we have a new and improved waterproof mount!

;) I guess that I'm just "old-fashioned"...
(or at least Old!)
I get on my bike to get AWAY from the dang phones! nojoke
It's locked in the trunk, and turned-off...

But your solution should be perfect for those folks who hyperventilate at the thought of being disconnected! :yikes:

I use my iPhone as my GPS on a Ram X-Grip mount and have it in an Lifeproof case so it is waterproof,i don't answer the phone if it rings or i get a text,i get back to them at next gas stop.

Heat!

The general problem with this plastic see-through cases is that the phone WAY overheats in a bit hurry.

Put it in your rain jacket pocket. GPS / Bluetooth will still work and shuffled music or playlists.

I agree that's a concern. I keep my phone in it's holder up on top of the dash behind the windshield, where it's shielded from most of the rain while traveling. Up there, I can keep it plugged in to a charger, and the wire is out of my way. Also, a good many of the newer phones today are water resistant. I rode home from Spyderquest in the rain last year, and the phone did fine. Hardly got wet at all.

I've had multiple phones on various mounts and have been through the rain plenty of times. Never had any issues with any phone.
I used to worry about it, but I guess I've gotten over it.

Don't laugh but...

I've made a couple custom sized bags with my food saver machine. I keep them in the glove box and can quickly slip iPhone or iPad in there bag and still keep wires plugged in.....

My setup

I do what has already been suggested. X grip and Lifeproof case. I use my phone strictly for music through Bluetooth. If it starts raining bad, I put it in pocket, just in case.

I use an iottie wireless charging mount on a ram ball center of my handle bars. The phone drops in and the mount clamps it. Keeps it charged while riding.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is waterproof so no need of a condom. Its also the first phone I have owned that I can see easily in sunlight AND the text is big enough I can read without my reading glasses. (Its hell to get old).

i either leave mine in the trunk connected to the stereo or in the glovebox connected to my helmet. I never look at a GPS map usually just spells disaster and since they talk the directions into your ear (bluetooth) or through the speakers dont really need it. But good idea for those who must have the map.

I leave mine in the trunk! Leave a message!😂

:agree: I have mine on an X Grip. I don't answer any calls or text I just use it for music and check for messages later. Rain, when It stops raining it dries never had a problem.

Life proof case

Have used this case for years. Phone usually in pocket or trunk usually check it when stop for fuel. May or may not. A true emergency? Family knows where to find me via SPOT tracker. :yikes:

Curious about SPOT. I know your family knows where you are via SPOT, and that you can send them a pre-programmed text message by pushing a button. But does your family have a way to contact you via SPOT, or would they have to just call you on your cell phone?

Interesting thread....

....a site sponsor post a product for sale, then some get on the thread with no interest to buy with input about other products. IMHO that is wrong.

have a great day

Sponsor?

You're correct. It is at least rude, if not wrong. I would not have chimed in, nor would others, I believe, if we knew the OP was a site sponsor. I thought she was just a "Minnesota girl" who was posting about an accessory she'd found.

That said, I do not see this "sponsor" listed on the homepage. ...unless I missed it. :dontknow:

Hijacking was not the intent

Was as just striking up a conversation, hopefully Tracey was not upset and did not feel hijacked.
