• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For those going to Maggie Valley next week, Keep an eye on the weather!

All, I'm saying is just be aware and don't get caught with your pants down. The last time I went for a trip on the BRP I was literally up inside a thunderstorm on Mount Pisgah. Even though it was an experience, it was not fun!!

I'm praying it follows the path of the others and turns to the right and goes out to sea.
I do too, but this is one of 2 storms forming off of the coast right now.
The other invest is just to the East of it and is supposed to develop into a storm as well and go out to sea.
Right now the euro is showing the invest to the West coming ashore and going into Western North Carolina, but the NOAA gfs is not in agreement with it and shows it going out to sea. Will have to wait a couple more days to see what shakes out in the numbers between the 2.

Well, I may have to eat my words on the euro. I just went back and checked on windy.com and it now has it as a hurricane dancing around off the coast all week and not coming ashore, with the one to the East going out to sea. This is one to definitely keep an eye on, even though the tracks are not consistent right now. The one thing that has been consistent is it keeps intensifying the strength of the storm.

I have actually been to a rally up there during the later half of one of those tropical storms. Sometimes the mountains tear them apart and you have great weather 10 miles down the road. One year the wife wasn't going out due to the steady rain in Maggie Vally that morning. I went anyway. As soon as I crossed over the BRP on my way towards Cherokee, the skies cleared and I had great riding weather the entire day. Around 5-6 that evening, I came back to the hotel and the wife said it had rained in Maggie Valley all day. We delayed our trip this year and will be there 10/12-16 to hopefully catch more color. Also, by going on a Sunday through Thursday, hopefully we can miss most of the leafers.

That's a little like around here, because some of the hills around me will be socked in here, but go North about 15 miles, or even just on the other side of the mountain and it is clear. There is a gap in between here and Thurmont, and when the storms come through, they will get backed up on the other side of the mountain and get funnelled through that gap, completely missing us. It can get bad through there, and they have high wind warning signs out on 15 to let drivers know that you can get blasted from the wind going through there.
