• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For all the tall riders who ride an RT

Instead of buying a new large boy seat, I took my stock seat to an automobile upholsterer and had his recut the seat and move me back to where I wanted. Lot cheaper than a new seat

Did it look good? Can you tell it's been altered? Interested!

I got my comfort seat installed yesterday.
BIG DIFFERENCE!
It does not sound like and additional 2.3" would make much of a difference but it did for me.

I will let you know more as I put on some miles but so far I am glad I got this seat.

My comfort seat is on the way. I am 6'4" and I will let you know if it was worth it for me.

I am considering floorboards but you still have to move your foot back to operate the break and in my case for the SM5, my left foot to shift. Additionally, there seems to be only one maker of floorboards for the SM5 :(
Thus I am going for the seat first and then the backrest.

Bob

You tall guys do have a cross to bare:roflblack:, however, even as a shorter dude I ride with my feet way forward on my Seals and often brake with my heel. A very comfortable movement and I never have to lose contact with my floorboards, just pivot on the ball of my foot. My new heel and toe shifter should also help you taller guys in shifting:clap:.

Ride in comfort,
John
Seal Floorboards

I have been kicking this around since I bought my RTS back in March. I'm kinda tall at 6' 2" and the riding position on the Spyder is not ideal for tall folks, knees are bent backwards some when riding and I just feel cramped on the bike. I don't know if the Comfort seat, this moves the rider about 2" back further, will be the best money spent or if the floorboards would be a better option to help with this problem. I know there are many tall Spyder riders out there and I'm asking all you taller guys to give me some input as to what options helped you the best. I have just mention 2 options so maybe there are other options that I haven't mentioned that work for you. Please tell me your height and what option helped you to relax your legs on the RTS the most. Thanks.
I'm 6'1 and 350 got the comfort seat, and a friend found here made a 6' inch floor boards only cost $ 50. so my arch don't numb, and after 60 miles butt get sore. I got air hawk cushion try this weekend .

Modify stock drivers seat foam about 3" back using a electric knive

Maybe remove stock seat cover from drivers area pulling back to rear section of passenger seat. Use an electric knife (or box cutter blade) & cut off about 3" of foam from rear of drivers seat. Sit on seat, take it for a ride to see if that is far enough back so your legs are straight. Use a power stapler & staple seat cover back on.
I have a modified Russell seat (about 2" back with a backrest), added 1/2" memory foam on top, & 1/2" gel pad under foam. It is plush riding many miles in a day, I am 6'.
This is same Russell seat I had on my 2011 Spyder RT; transfered it to my 2013 Spyder RT. (Seal floorboards are great too on 2012 Spyder RT for tall person).
A new Russell seat built about 2" or 3" set back, with a backrest would help you stretch out. Jim

I'm 6'4" and 230#. I test rode one Spyder with the stock seat and then one with a Comfort Seat at another dealer. It was a night and day type of thing for me. I immediately asked what the deal was with the seat or the bike when the rep told me it had the BRP Comfort Seat. I was sold. Ordered my RT-S with the tan leather Comfort Seat and matching backrest for the passenger. I feel totally comfortable even with the stock pegs for my feet. At some point boards will happen, but with the comfort seat there is no rush.

My wife who is 5'4" feels that she has to scoot up to ride better when she is in the saddle; however, it's not something where she can't ride or feels unsafe while steering.
