• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

FOBO - Cold Tire Pressure Setting - What is Correct?

I recently installed the FOBO TPMS and like others really like the accuracy and peace of mind it provides. A technical question for all you engineer types:
I know you are supposed to set your tires based on COLD temp setting. Obviously, that temp will vary depending partially on outside temps. In the winter your COLD starting pressure is going to be much different then in the Spring and again in the Summer and can vary from day to day sometimes by 10-20+ degrees and the beginning and end of a season.

For example, if you are setting your Fronts to 18 psi and the outside temp is 50º to start the day but later in the week when morning temps are starting in the mid 70º, your baseline temps will already be higher if you did not reset your FOBO to the new Cold sensor readings. I don't really want to start every few days resetting tires with the cold temp of the day. (which would be ridiculous for even the most OCD person)

I find that when my tire temps get over 21+ psi it starts to get a little loose in the handling. If the day starts off cold and warms up (and of coarse tire pressure will rise as the bike is ridden and even more when the temps rise) I don't like the way it handles. Now that the days are starting warmer I know I will have to reset the starting pressure lower to account for the rise in temps.

What are most of you doing to deal with this or are you just not changing as the days get warmer.

I just set mine for the recommended PSI and leave it be. During the winter here in the Phoenix area, the early morning temperature might be 35 or 40, and then 60-70 in the afternoon. In the summer it goes from 70s in the morning, to 100+ in the afternoon. I have the variance in pressure set to allow for that. When my Spyder is parked outside during the day, the front tire that's facing the sun might be 10-15 degrees higher than the other front tire. At night, when the Spyder is parked in my garage, the temperature goes back down. But I never change the settings in FOBO just because the outside temperature or the sun change the tires temperature.

Just my two cents worth

Pam
