• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

FM Radio rant

So, I was talking to the tech at my local shop about how to reset the presets on the RT. He tell me he does not know how to do it and as far as he knows it cannot be done.:gaah: So, I say to him " What if you were to disconnect the battery for say 10 mins. or so,and then reboot the system?"
Well he did say you would have to take the battery off at lest that long for it to shut down. He did not say "yes that well work" and he said when you go to reconnect the battery it may throw all kinds of codes and I would have to bring it to the shop.:hun: Has anyone been able to reset the presets on there RT?:dontknow: Any help will do.:chat:.:ani29:

They can be reprogrammed, they cannot be cleared. Procedure is in the manual...but is better explained in the audio system instructions. Your tech needs some experience. Disconnecting the battery for an extended length of time will only make you have to reset the clock on an RS, should be little difference for the RT. BUDS is not involved.

Thank you both, it should work like in a cage and I have read the Operator's Guide while sitting on the RT with it plugged into the battery tender so not to drain it and for the life of me I cannot reset the presets.:gaah: Well I just need to chill out and go for a ryde. :ani29:

I feel your pain! The radio is not very user friendly. Enjoy your chill out ride.

OK, to the best of my recollection (with some help from the manual), here it goes.....

With the Spyder stopped, navigate to the audio screen and use the "SET" button to select FM. Press and hold the set button to enter the setup screen. Press the "UP" button to select the preset. Use the "LEFT" or "RIGHT" buttons to select the station. Make sure your preset is still set to what want it to be. Press the "DOWN" button to enter that station into the preset displayed. If no preset is shown, it will add the station to the next available preset. If all 15 are filled, it will change #15. It gets tricky, and unfortunately unwanted presets cannot be deleted...only changed.

Thanks Scotty, I will try again another day. I do not want to delete, just change. Cheers. :ani29:

Just make double sure both the station you want and the correct preset are displayed before you push the "DOWN" button to set it. Real tricky!

Suspect the problem may well be in the original software.
The early (VX-5)/VX-7) Yaseu ham radio handheld mobile radios were the same.
It was well nigh impossible to remove your presets unless you first cleared the entire radio of all presets, both repeaters and frequencies as well as other options. Would have thought BRP would have been able to obtain a more user friendly AM-FM radio, for the Spyder. It is there a possibility one could replace the radio with something more user-friendly?
