• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Flying With Proper Identification

:dontknow: Does anybody know when these enhanced regulations are taking effect?
Four States have driver's licenses that don't pass muster: New York is one of them! :gaah:
The Missus might need to fly out to San Francisco in May, and we're trying to figure out what sort of aggravation all of this is going to cause...

Actually they do; this is from Homeland securities Q&A site about these changes::

Q: New York, Vermont, Michigan, and Washington currently issue "enhanced driver's licenses" (EDLs) that are designated by the Secretary of Homeland Security as acceptable to enter the United States at land and sea ports of entry in accordance with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). Are EDLs acceptable for official federal purposes such as boarding a commercial aircraft?
A: Yes. State EDLs designated as acceptable border-crossing documents by DHS under WHTI are acceptable for official federal purposes such as boarding a commercial aircraft or entering a federal facility.

We still have the "Non-Enhanced" versions... :opps:
But it's probably cheaper to upgrade the licenses, than it is to obtain a Passport.

They should require a REAL ID to vote.

Ding...ding...ding.
Funny how you need the new ID to fly not to vote. If the govt req this to vote, I think it would change the elections forever. AZ tried to pass that law, which they did. But the feds came back at the state and said you cannot require proof of citizenship to vote for federal election just state elections. Funny how the lib's jumped right in to stop that.

The first time I flew (about 1966 United Air Lines) I was greeted at the door and escorted to my seat, Given a adult cocktail, matches and cigerates. It's been downhill ever since.

I agree. Do you remember what the stewardess looked like back then?

I was 20 years old and heading to Philadelphia Navel Base, They all looked good in uniform as they were hand selected to fit them well. :ohyea: I remember my sisters applying for stewardess training, for what ever reason none of them went.

In Michigan at least they are half the price of a passport. How ever a passport is good for ten years and the EDL is only good for four years so the total cost is less @ 10 years then 2.5 renewals of the EDL.
