• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Flying With Proper Identification

:dontknow: Does anybody know when these enhanced regulations are taking effect?
Four States have driver's licenses that don't pass muster: New York is one of them! :gaah:
The Missus might need to fly out to San Francisco in May, and we're trying to figure out what sort of aggravation all of this is going to cause...

My cousin and his wife flew to Florida few weeks ago. They have the enhanced license. Don't believe they needed passports.

Don't worry

By law they have to give 180 days notice prior to anything going into effect. Even so, you probably won't see any serious action taken on this at least until 2017 at the earliest.

It is called RealID. Some military installations will not let you enter (if you are a civilian) unless you have one. IN CT, a yellow star is put on your driver's license. To get it, you have to go to the DMV (always a pleasure) with your existing license, certified U.S. birth certificate (NOT just a copy) or current U.S. Passport, SS card, W-2, or 1099 with SS number, & 2 proofs of residency from two different sources of the state that you live in, i.e. mortgage statement, bank statement, Medicare benefit statement, SS benefits statement dated within the last 12 months property tax bill, motor vehicle registration, and postmarked mail, among other things. Any two of these will do. Note that photocopies, notarized photocopies, and non-certified copies are not acceptable. It's not strictly enforced yet, but will be, I think, in 2017. My daughter flew to California last month from Newark, and had no problems. Hope this helps.

EDIT: But, as always, check the requirements for the state that you live in. I just supplied the documents, they scanned and stored them, took my picture, and I got the new license. I wasn't asked any questions, and it really wasn't a hassle.

Proof of citizenship

What is the enhanced license?

It's a drivers license that shows proof of citizenship. I got one when I renewed my license here in Washington. You have to make an appointment for an interview. Then on the appointment day you have to bring your birth certificate with you. I don't recall the questions they asked me, but the interview only took like 15 minutes. The license will display a small US flag emblem to verify your country of citizenship. There is also a digitally encoded copy of your photograph which can't be faked. TSA and border agents can scan your license and see the decoded picture to ensure it matches you. In addition, it serves as a passport for entry into both Canada and Mexico.

Little checking..l

According to the list your state is still good to go through October of this year (2016) as are we here in CA. We do have passports for back up. Easy to get good to have cause you never know who will get elected and you need to run...:roflblack::roflblack:

I read about that also. I am thinking that they will not start enforcing it because then the discrimination lawsuits will start up.
