How do they help

The ISCI boards look nice, but I wonder how they can give you much if any additional room to stretch out? They appear to only go slightly beyond the brake?

As I said I like their product, but would have to see some reviews on this if I were to consider them to help alleviate leg discomfort.

Well everybody has a different yardstck for measuring comfort... In my case I found them to work VERY well! I was able to move around more; not necessarily stretching my legs out... I just didn't feel as "locked-in" as the pegs made me feel. To me they made all of the difference! :thumbup:

Hi all,

One of the advantages of Seal FloorBoards is that there is no need to lift your foot off the FloorBoard to get to the brake. Whether you brake with your toe or heel (my preference) you never have to lose foot contact with the FloorBoard. That's just one of the advantages of a large ergonomic FloorBoard design.

You did say "any help":

If your leg cramps like getting a "charlie horse" I would eat a bannana, and do stretches before getting on the bike.
I am 6'2 and wanted to be able to stretch my legs too and found that the Kewl Metal highway boards best suited my needs.

Now I am so use to ryding that I so often prefer ryding in the stretched position for long periods of time. But take
fast turns in the stock ryding position.

Sounds good. I'll be ryding in with a bunch from San Diego and Long Beach, the new Spyder Ryders of America club. Looks like it might be a wet ride based on the weather forcast.

I have the ISCI boards on my bike and i like them BUT i have to admit i use the highway pegs more than the boards themselves. rnet is the opposite of me. So if i did it over again i would have just added the highway pegs. I Think :dontknow:

Seal FloorBoards

I recently installed the Seal FloorBoards on my RT-S and am very satisfied with them. I chose the Seals for these reasons:
1) I was looking for floorboards, not highways pegs.
2) I liked the idea that the Seals do not require me to make permanent alterations to the bike and would be easy to install.
3) I am 6'1" tall and want to ride with my legs under or slightly in front of me, not tucked somewhat behind me.

So far, I am IMPRESSED! Installation was relatively easy, and I was surprised by how heavy and solid the boards are. They are very sturdy and allow me to mount the Spyder very easily, and they are wider than they appear in the Seal website photos. When I sit on the Spyder, I feel that my legs are in a very natural position, not stretched out forward or tucked under me. And, they look great on the bike. I am still getting used to sliding my foot sideways to step on the brake, but that will be an easy adjustment.

These are heavy-duty floorboards, and John was very prompt in getting them shipped and in answering any of my follow-up questions.

John posted 2 of the FloorBoard photos on his website, but I will post the 4 photos that I have so you can see them from different angles. The first 2 pics are on the left side, and the last 2 on the right side. The finished version of the boards looks like they could be standard equipment on the Spyder.

just curious if foot prints show up much and if it is easy to clean up?

They are powder coated and will sometimes show dirt but not much. I went to Walmart and got the stickon truck step thread and put the thread on mine. It rains up here and I liked the extra feeling of grip in the corners.

Great idea. I am interested in these floorboards but it looked like they could get scuffed up over time. I'm going to take a closer look at these at Spyderfest but if I go this route I will add some rubber matting like you did.

I want to make one other comment about the Seal FloorBoards now that I have a chance to ride again as the weather is warming up here in Florida. Aside from making the ride feel much more comfortable, I am surprised that they also help me when I turn corners. Since my feet are in a natural position rather than behind me, I find turning to be easier with much less tendency for me to tighten up ... which would happen when I pressed down on the footpegs. Also, I don't feel the need to lean into turns as much since my feet are anchored on the Spyder. :2thumbs:

I just emailed John Anderson and told him I'd be ordering shortly. Just need the credit card to recover from the holidays. I'll make a decision on the risers at the same time, so I'll finally have to get the tools organized and the garage cleaned up so I have room to work. I guess after seven years in this house it's about time.
