• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Floorboards and Highway Pegs

I have a 2010 RT(Audio and Convenience) and am looking for recommendations for floorboards and highway pegs. I see a lot of different products, but I'm not sure which would be the most comfortable. I'm 5'-11" and my left leg often cramps from using just the stock pegs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :helpsmilie:

Hi TD009,

You might just be a candidate for a set of Seal FloorBoards. I designed them for myself and my bad legs. You might want to contact a couple of :spyder2:Lovers who have them or have first hand knowledge of them. Two people that come to mind are 8 Legged Freak and VaughanCat, both part of the :spyder2:Lovers family. Please check out my sealfloorboards.com website and feel free to contact me with any questions you have.

Seal FloorBoards

Joh's Seal floorboards are pretty neat-looking, and another option you might want to consider would be from ISCI... (The fun is in the shopping anyway!)

I found that just adding the ESI scuff guards was enough for me - just someplace to rest your foot for a bit.

The other options are expensive, and don't offer more. Additionally, you need to consider if adding the floorboards necessitates (for you) a handbrake. Your reaction time is longer, if you take your feet off the pegs.

Just my $0.02...

I'll be getting the seal floorboards. I believe you are able to either use your toes or heel depending on your foot location. Your concern was something that has held me back from getting floorboards sooner. But, I think I'll be fine after getting use to them. JMO.

I would try the scuff guards; but, they aren't made for the GS.

You did say "any help"::D

If your leg cramps like getting a "charlie horse" I would eat a bannana, and do stretches before getting on the bike.
I am 6'2 and wanted to be able to stretch my legs too and found that the Kewl Metal highway boards best suited my needs.

Now I am so use to ryding that I so often prefer ryding in the stretched position for long periods of time. But take
fast turns in the stock ryding position.

I think it would be a great idea to go to the Long Beach International Motorcycle show Dec 18th when
a bunch of other spyder riders will be there and maybe you can sit on their bike to see how ya like them.
You are invited to sit on mine that Saturday.:)

The Board posted above are actually for the RS. The RT Boards are smaller and do not require the mounting brackets. I little less expensive as well.

oops, sorry for the confusion I created. I went on your web site and it does not show a photo of an RT an RT with floorboards installed
that I could find. In fact none of the products indicate if it is for RT or RS

The picture below says it is a cruiser board, so not sure if this is the one.

ISCI or Seal... There are others, but we're fortunate to have at least 2 good choices from which to decide...

Loved the look of Vertika... but the price! :cus:

Good input from all of you. Yes, there are choices. I'm just happy to be considered one of the top two by so many. I will be at Spyderfest as a vendor and will be offering free installation. I am also offering a set of Seal FloorBoards as a door prize. Check and compare size, quality and price (yes Virginia, size does matter).

See you in April.

Now THAT'S a floorBoard,

John

I Love ISCI

I love their products and they are made to last forever, however they are very expensive-I know from $3500 failed experience trying to make my RS into a touring machine.

I do recommend them and found their customer service to be first rate. I made my own boards and they turned out well, and have held up this far, however time will tell.

Checked the web site and found no Seal Floor Boards for the RT SM5.....:yikes:

Seal FloorBoards will not be offering a RT SM5 model until after SpyderFest. My plate is very full with Xmas sales and prep for SpyderFest. The SM5 model is my spring project. Please bear with me.
