• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Flawless RT-S on 2,500 mile Trip

Just completed an Indianapolis-Dallas-Lake Charles-Gulfport-Indianapolis trip and the Spyder performed flawlessly, in rain, wind, and nice sunny days. Also, as always, it was a big hit along the way...it is impossible to stop without getting questions. Other than the 800-mile round trip to Spyderfest, this was my first 'real' excursion on this bike. What an amazing machine this is! Think I'll keep it.

I agree and had the same experience when going to, while there and coming home from spyderfest. We traveled some 4,000 some miles without incident. The only snafu I had was my GPS wanted to take me to Nawlins versus Jackson, Mississippi.

Sorry About your GPS but GIGO remember?

Awesome to hear you had a great trouble free 2500 mile ride! That gives me hope. I am looking at taking a 2000 mile ride later this summer on our new RT-S.

Wish I could take a trip with my Spyder but I can't trust it not to break down and strand me someplace, so my trips are usually limited to a 100 mile radius of home. That's as far as what family and friends said they'd drive to rescue me. I also try to stay close to rail and bus lines so just in case I can still get home. As for the Spyder, I would hope someone would steal it.

It sounds like you have had a bad experience with your Spider. What sort of problems have you had ? What year and model is yours? Sounds like you may need to switch to a different bike if you can't ride it far as that's why I bought my Spider is to ride and not worry about breaking down. All manufactures have some problems but your comments are very negative to me.

Wonderful!! I am in the process of negotiating for a 2013 RTS. Positive posts, like this one, really gives me encouragement. But then, I love my RS:clap::clap:

Starting problems - - a lot. The "Check Engine" warning coming on when starting and even when driving down a road. Transmission shown to be in 1st gear or reverse at start up even though it was in neutral when I shut it off - - and no, there was no way I accidentally left it in gear. Several times the trans was shown to be in gear and even pressing the brake pedal down wouldn't allow a start up. During one return to the dealer for a fix the service rep called me to say over 250 error codes were showing up but the problems couldn't be verified by the mechanic. Next round, no codes showing but then the engine would just shut down. All this on a new 2011 RT SE5 with just over 800 miles on the odometer. Supposedly, it's fixed, but occasionally I still get a Check Engine warning showing and the engine runs rough and shuts down. I turn off the ignition and walk away from the beast with the key for a bit and come back and go through the starting sequence hoping it starts without a problem. Have it checked for error codes and nothing shows. I'm getting a tad fed up with this machine.

i understand your frustration, but have you given any thought to finding a new dealer. Its obvious the one your bringing it to cant fix it. :dontknow:

Good news..!!

love to hear these reports. Some day we may have this site at about 50/50 good and bad. I know there are a greater number of ryders with little to no problems but then we are here to help and share with those that do. Sadly we may scare folks some but hopefully they know what we do..congrats on the trip must have been great....

It sounds like u may have throttle body issues and yes u should change dealers also. I had a 2010 rt and it was in shop more than I rode it and broke down on long trips too. I traded it and just brought a 2013 rts and needed ball joints replaced. Seems to ride better now. I do feel your pain. I have a new dealer now for the new bike.
