• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

too bad i can not weld.
i am resulted to tie-wrapping the fender bracket to swing arm because BRP is not giving my dealer OK to fix the broken tab on swing where right bracket bolts on to. now the belt guard on left is broken due to extra vibration and tire is damaged by bolt on fear fender.

Got back from Chicago and both my rear brackets have started to crack , dealer took some pictures to send to BRP. Still under warranty.

my dealer did the same thing 3-4 weeks ago but still waiting for brp to approve the repair.

If you Get yourself a wire fed welder,You can learn how to weld with one of those in no time.
I use a Lincoln weld pack 100.
Also get a instant darkening welding mask.

That sounds like a great idea! :2thumbs: I may just give that a go and see what happens.

Yes, the mask would be a must. I see shows on TV and I can't stand the bright light emitting from the welding going on on the screen! :roflblack:

Thanks Sir! Not sure when I'm going to pull the trigger on that but I'll keep you posted. Seems I may need it to repair rear fender brackets soon! Man I'm hearing about this happening quite a bit now...

Again?

Mine cracked there both times. Once at 15000km, again at 25000km. I had them replaced under warranty, but the next time it happens, I'll be out of warranty.:gaah:

I thought that there was a new part number for these with a properly heat treated part? Maybe just Spyder dreaming.:(

Naw....You don't need the mask. It hurts at first but after a little while you won't notice the difference! :joke:

I think those can be fixed by drilling and tapping a hole in the swingarm where the welded tab broke and bending about an 80° angle in a piece of flatstock. Drill through holes in the bent flatstock corresponding to the the fender strut hole and the tapped hole in the swingarm and use that to hold the fender strut. No welding involved and if that flatstock tab breaks, you just bend another, put in the holes, screw it down and your good to go. dltang had the upper tab on both the left and right fender strut break three times now. The first two repairs were welded on tabs (one by me and the second time by the dealer). I've put the screwed on flatstock tabs on her Spyder and they are holding up just fine.

thank you. i have not thought about that but it's little messy down there now after dealer tried to weld another piece of tab down there but it broke off again. now they are waiting for brp to give them ok do i don't know what.

I have a 4" grinder that I used to clean up some of the rough spots on the broken tab. I had to be very careful when doing the brake side as the lines and wheel sensor wires are "right there", but I got it okay. I wasn't grinding the entire broken tab off, just cleaning up any bits left sticking up, making the top surface flat for my screwed on tab.
