• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

hello,

Just curious since we don't have any spare tires does anyone carry a can of fix a flat or something similar in case they get a flat tire and you just happen to be 30 or whatever miles from civilization. I was thinking about picking on up just in case.

I carry a can of fix a flat ( with a tube on it to get to the rear tire ) ,a tire plug set, and Lamonster air pump.

I carry a easy to use patch kit and Lamont's compressor. My tire buddies really get upset when people put gunk in their tires, but I also understand why you would do it....I believe my patch kit is a Stop n Go....:spyder2::spyder2:

I carry a can of it for emergencies, but I know how much it will gunk up your rims and inside of tire. Better than being stranded I guess. I'll carry it until I get a simple motorcycle plug kit and Lamonster's air pump.

I carry a small vulcanizing kit and a small bicycle air pump. I've never had a need for it in 30+ years of riding but I feel warm and fuzzy knowing its there.
 
Good old string plugs, small tube of rubber cement, and a mini compressor. Used them four times in the last 6 years and they never failed me. Also used them to bail out my buddy when his high tech repair kit with rubber plugs and CO-2 cartridges proved to be worthless.
 
Agree...

I carry a mushroom plug kit and air supply. Better to have it and never use it than not have it and need it. Also comes in handy for those that don't have anything with them...:thumbup:

Seeing that is what I have but have never had to use, how did it prove worthless? What didn't work? It has a 4.9 out of 5 star rating.

You all have thrown out some great ideas. The only problem I see with the co2 cartridges is you are limited to the air only they contain. If something goes wrong with 1 or 2 cartridges is there enough air. I was thinking with a small air pump, you air is limitless. I don't know maybe you can fill up the tire multiple times with the same cartridge but if you need all of them for 1 fill up???

I carry both the co2 cartridges (they came with my tyre repair kit) and a small air pump. I check my tyres and pressures each morning when on a ride so the pump comes in useful then. The CO2 cartridges will be used when I do get a puncture, if they don't work fully then I'll have the pump to top up.

My assumption, and it just an assumption, is that the CO2 cartridges fill the tyre quickly. If your at the side of a main road you want something that fills the tyre as fast as possible, even if it's not fully inflated, so you can move somewhere safer. The pump I have would take a few minutes as it's small.

Buddy had a rather wide 190 rear tire on his Triumph. 6 CO-2 cartridges took it to 16 PSI. That put it just above "still flat" and no way was this loaded touring bike going to be ridden. Not saying they won't work, just don't put much trust in what four or five will do. Plug held okay, but find another source for air.
