• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First trip in the rain

Today was Museum Day and I had planned to go to the AMA Hall of Fame Museum. I was supposed to go with a co-worker, but a line of thunderstorms southeast of the city was causing a constant mist in Columbus. He has a two-wheeler, so he decided to stay home. As a new rider, I figured this would be a good learning experience for me, so I went by myself.

The Spyder held up well on the wet roads and the CHAD kept me mostly dry, but my gloves, knees, and left lower leg were wet. The heat on the right side kept my leg dry.

The nanny kicked in once while on a down-hill Interstate cloverleaf. I was going just a touch too fast and started to fishtail. It was sudden and the correction was subtle, and I found myself impressed with the technology I was riding.

I got to the Museum to find I was the only motorcyclist there. I guess nobody else was brave (or stupid) enough to venture out on the wet roads.

The Museum was a bust for me. The exhibits were on Arlen Ness and MotoStars (motorcycles from celebrities and the movies), but I was really hoping to see a 1943 Harley-Davidson WLA (http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/classics/bike.asp?id=86). I'm a member of the Ohio chapter of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association and hope to have one someday. Unfortunately, that bike was only there during a previous exhibit.

On the way home, it started to really rain, so I dropped by Iron Pony, a local motorcycle accessory superstore, to do some shopping.

I picked up a Black Cortech Sport Tailbag. (http://www.cortechperformance.com/xcart/catalog/Sport-Tail-Bag-p-148_31.html). It looks pretty good, should hold two days worth of clothes, and didn't break the bank.

:clap:I APPLAUD YOU FOR GETTING OUT THERE IN THE RAIN ANYWAYS!

EVEN IF YOUR TRIP WAS KIND OF A BUST AS FAR AS THE AMA:gaah:, AT LEAST YOU PICKED UP A GOOD LOOKING SADDLE BAG! :2thumbs: WAY-TA GO GIJoe! :2thumbs:

RIDE ON SPYDERLOVER!!!

I saw many of the Army surplus bikes when I was a kid. You could pick up a new one for $50.00 still in the crate and packed in cosmoline(probably spelled wrong but my spell-check is not old enough to know what cosmoline is). A lot of these ended up as the first bobbers and choppers. Rain drill is good. Next time it rains go to a big empty parking lot and put in into some panic stops and lane evasion drills. Brace good for the panic stops or it will run over you after you go over the handlebars. The ABS is awesome. This is the best bike I have ever ridden in the rain and I lived in Seattle for 15 years!welcome

I've been using that tailbag for 2 years on my current m/c. So far it's holding up great & it does hold a lot of stuff. There are also saddlebags that attach to it although i've never tried them. Nice write up by the way.
