• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First traffic ticket

Got my first traffic ticket on my Spyder. The citation was for following too closely. We were in the middle of a left hand turn from a stop light when the vehicle in front of me hit their brakes for no apparent reason, and I too close to their rear end ( apparently) and then the motorcycle cop behind me pulled me over and gave me a ticket. He had to pull around another vehicle before he was able to get to me so I'm not sure how exactly you saw that I was driving too close. From what I've heard it's a hard ticket to fight guess Im out the 225, 245 if I do deferred adjudication.

WOW...I believe if I were in your place, he would have to prove I was following too close. Car between you and the officer and you didn't hit the vehicle in front. Iffy I would say....

If you have the time, I would take it to court and make him show up. If he doesn't, you are off the hook. If he does show, he has to prove his case and you may be able to lower your fine.

Wow...!!

I thought that was only added to a collision type incedent...:dontknow: He must of have been having a bad day or short on a quota....

It sounds like he may not like spyder's ... I would take a chance on court. Did you have pics by chance?

If you were able to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of you, you were not too close for the speed in which you were traveling. At this point it seems to be a matter of opinion on the officers part. Ask him to support his opinion in front of the judge and then abide by the judge's opinion. Good luck, and do not argue with the judge.

:agree:Double hard for the officer to prove what was in view if there was a car between you. :p
Glad you didn't rear end the stopping car :congrats: For being aware :2thumbs:. Plz keep us informed as to how it turn out for you:coffee:

Fight it

Fight it with courtesy as others recommended.

I go through a left hand turn regularly with a short left hand turn arrow and very heavy oncoming traffic; I find myself cursing those who don't follow very closely in the turn.

Good luck, I think you will prevail.

Thought the same thing about trying to make quota. Going to town hall today and see what my options are will update shortly...:p

While :agree: in fighting this one based upon the fact that you didn't hit anything, and his vision was obscured...

...I've been involved in the insurance business for long enough to tell you that "failing to maintain a safe following distance", causes more accidents than anything else. :banghead:

...just sayin'...

Hey now, how are you with copyright infringement?:roflblack::lecturef_smilie:

Just sayin'............

The assumed safe distance is 1 car length per 10MPH, so you are essentially stopped so any distance that doesn't contact is ok. Having been in court 100s of times, tickets included. 1st I'd go on line and find the law that he wrote up. One time he used the wrong code violation, it was thrown out.

Then I would go to the city/county attorney that will be handling it and explain that it is totally bogus. IN the end, its difficult for "them" to just drop it. (previous graft and corruption) . If the city attorney doesn't agree to reduce it to nothing, then negotiate a non-moving violation so your insurance won't be affected. Double parking, jay walking, whatever is a not a moving violation. They just want your money and not take up any more time in court than they have too. Even if you pay the $200, the insurance company will screw you a lot more for the next 3 years.

I am knocking on wood right now, but I have only been pulled over once on my spyder and I believe the officer merely wanted a closer look and no ticket was issued. In a car I have been stopped a few more times, with a whole lot less luck.

Just sayin'............
