• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First Spyder ride

Rode my new Spyder RT home from the dealership yesterday. 90 miles from Grand Junction to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Only other ride was the test drive around the block a week ago. Coming home was a little unnerving as I was so used to my Suzuki Lehman trike. I'm sure I'll get used to the Spyder. Went for a ride today, and am feeling more confident. Really had to think hard about there only being one foot brake. Did reach for my right hand brake at one stop sign today. Ha ha!

After changing my tire pressure from the dealership as well as the shocks....I put on Seal floor boards, two brothers exhaust and a Utopia drivers back rest..made a huge difference in how my bike handled..

This site is an amazing place for questions and info.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Spyder!

When you have 500 or so miles on your new RT, you will really love it and be used to the differences in it and your old trike. Enjoy.

Don't feel bad about reaching for the hand brake, I have a 1000 miles on mine and sometimes I still reach for it. but getting better at not reaching for it. I think it took me at least 3 to 4 hundred miles to really get comfortable with it. But there is no turning back now. And :congrats:on the new:spyder2: you will love it just like the rest of us on here.

:welcome::congrats::spyder2:ON. You will be grabbing air for awhile. Take a little while to get used to no hand brake . guess you will be going to the owners event in Durango .

Welcome aboard! :2thumbs::ohyea::ohyea::yes::yes::yes::ohyea::ohyea:
Spent most of my first summer grabbing an absent brake lever... :opps:

Thanks guys! You are right... there is no turning back. Will be out again today, like yesterday, practicing on little twisties.:D Luckily for me there are lots of little twisties nearby.

 There can be a bit of a steep learning curve with Spyders, so take your time and enjoy each time out on it... :2thumbs:

:congrats: and :welcome: You will find the site is a great place for information. Between Lamont, Scotty and sooooo many others, any quesiton you have will get answered. Lots of great info on mods to. Have yet to do my first, but have been following several threads and working my courage up to "crack" into the Tupperware. You got a great ryde and I am sure you will have years of enjoyment from it.

It takes a while to get the swing of the Spyder. A buddy of mine bought a RT about 6 months ago and for the first few rides he would trail WAY behind us. We went on a 160 mile ride a few days ago and he was right with the group the whole day...and loving it. The Spyder is a whole different animal!

Welcome to many enjoyable miles. It took me about two weeks and a thousand miles to quit reaching for the hand brake and how to do the twisties without the feeling of being pushed off the bike. Enjoy

My goal is Lolo Pass in Montana, 77 miles of twisties. I've ridden it several times as a passenger on the back of the hublet's bike, but now I want to run it on my own.:ohyea:

Hey even the "learning curve" is fun.

So very true! Also as Bob said, the learning curve can be steep! Especially going into twisty's!
At first it feels like it wants to throw you off it, but then it becomes fun and that feeling goes away. You change the way you ride the Spyder almost without realizing it!

All the miles, all the years, all the destinations, all the different makes and models someone has ridden on motorcycles, means absolutely nothing when getting on a Spyder! The only thing that really counts is how much time and experience you have on the Spyder. And that's where all the fun is to be had....... Getting that experience

Congradulations on the Spyder! Enjoy the ride!

:welcome::congrats:on the new ryde. There is a 250-500 mile learning curve until you become one with the bike. But as others have said, thats also part of the fun.
