There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. First road trip

Hi folks.
Looking for some advice on our first road trip. Wife and I have his and hers bikes (identical 2018 F3s). We will be doing 250 miles one way to see our daughter for a visit, staying the night and riding back the next day. Mostly back roads in Georgia and South Carolina. Planning on stopping every 80 miles or so for stretching purposes etc.... Any thoughts or advice???

That should be a nice ride for both of you on your spyders. Sounds like you going take plenty of stops. If its hot drink plenty of water. If it cool in the morning an then warm in afternoon. Dress in layers so you can take off some clothes when you warm up. Have a good an safe ride.

A good ride for starters. 250 one way...that's one tank of gas for the F3's. However, I would fill at 125 or so, just to stretch and take a break. Make sure you have gear to match the weather.

Enjoy.

Plan for 5 to 6 hours to get to your destination. It all depends upon how much time you take for meal and rest breaks. When I do road trips, I almost always travel 50 miles in an hour. ie; 200 miles takes me 4 hours, 300 miles takes me 6 hours etc. That is real time to get to my destination, not rolling time. Have fun and take time to smell the roses..... Jim

No matter what the predictions are, pack rain gear. It can also be a wind breaker if the temps drop.

Sounds like a sound, safe, fun plan. Enjoy!

Advice? Don't be in a hurry. Set Google Maps so that it avoids interstates, tolls, and ferries. Enjoy the ride, listen to the wind, and smell the fresh air. 250 miles is a fun ride.

Thank you for all the advice folks! We’re really looking forward to the trip. Planning to go the first Sunday in April. Will post back to let everyone know how it goes!

Pack lighter than you normally would for a car trip. It's surprising how much you can easily over pack.

I've found that performance clothing, like Nike Dry Fit, etc, pack super small and can be easily washed and hung out to dry in a hotel room.

Like was said layering is the key to keeping warm and cool during the same ride. Modern performance fabrics can keep you surprisingly warm when layered.

ENJOY!!

Denver is a little further than that from me, but we travel that way in the car for Denver, we go one day, stay over night, and come back the next. Just easier that way.
