FIRST RIDE TODAY!!!

After my hip replacement back in mid- February. (Or since late October for that matter.) It was 61 degrees out and I couldn't stand it any longer. So unhooked the battery tender, checked the tire pressure, etc. No, I didn't read the card. Great White started right up as if it had been ridden yesterday. I gotta tell you, I am a new man after a 50 or so mile ride. You don't realize how much you miss something until you don't have it, and then get it back. Of course, now rain is forecast for the next 10 days, so I'm really glad I got out today.:yes::yes:

BTW, no mirror magnets yet.:banghead::banghead:

That's great !!! I'm really enjoying my new spyder ...have 2 days of riding in so far... I'm originally from RI so I know the weather there needs a bit more time

Good to Hear.....

Sure am glad you got the opportunity to get out there. Bummer about the rain but great that your back in the saddle again....:ohyea:

I'm glad to hear that you got to "turn the wheels" a bit today! :congrats: :2thumbs:
And the hip felt good?

Yep, the hip felt good, no problem getting on/off the RT. Coincidentally, Dave7691, who lives near me and also had a hip replacement around the same time I did got out and rode for the first time today. The road warriors are back!:thumbup:

Glad to hear you have beat me to the first ride. We got bombed with nine inches more of snow and am waiting for my driveway to thaw. I blew out the remainder of the deep snow and am hoping that spring thaw will finish the job. I am hoping to ride as early as Wednesday.

And yes, I am going to be trying out my new hip which was replaced in January. I am out of the wheel chair and walking as much as I can. No pain in the hip replacement leg either.

I am predicting a good riding summer for both of us.

Correction: The BIONIC road warriors are back!

Another hip replacement ryder here - the surgery gave me my life back and the Spyder makes it MORE BETTER!!! :dg1:

Next winter I'm getting the other one done. Couldn't face getting them done back to back and miss a good chunk of riding. For now, wind therapy will be better than another hip and more PT.

I like the term "Bionic Road Warriors.":bowdown: I wonder if there is a patch for that. :roflblack::roflblack:

Dwight,

That is great news, that you were able to take a ride, hip replacement went will.

We are getting the rain on Tuesday, dry day Wednesday, then back to rain again on Thursday. But the rain washes the salt, off the roads.

WELL CRAP

Went for a second ride yesterday. All was going grandly then - The Dreaded Orange Screen. The Spyder started darting all over the lane at 70 mph. Got a check engine light, oil pressure light, VSS light, and Limp Home.:banghead::banghead: Pulled up codes C0063 & C006C, which are ECM failure, VSS failure, Yaw control failure, and some other stuff too. Fortunately, I was 1/2 mile from my exit, then 2 miles to home so I did get it home. The flatbed is coming tomorrow morning. What a way to start a riding season.:mad:

 crap... :gaah:

With all of that going on; it sounds more like a loose connection.

At least that's what I hope it is! Fingers Crossed.gif (It would be the easiest thing to fix...)

Hi Dwight,

I am really glad to see you out on your Spyder, not glad to hear of this issue. I agree with Bob that it is probably a connection, or your battery crapped out. When Deb's battery crapped out on her old RS the cluster lit up like a christmas tree and that battery was only 2 weeks old. Don't fret too soon.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to get out yet because the roads are full of salt. We are getting over an inch of rain today, so the roads should be cleaned off nicely. Then we just need some warmer days and we are hitting the road.

Wow, that is not a good way to start the riding season! Lucky for you were not to far from your exit, and you got safe! Keep us updated on what happens. Deanna

We're getting some pretty serious rain today...

...Which'll clean the salt off the roads!:yes:
I am also getting some rain today. Wednesday dry, than back to rain on Thursday. It will also wash the salt off the roads WOHOOOOOO!
