There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. First long ride 365 miles in 13.5 hours

Went on a great ride yesterday - rode with some friends throughout northern IL, found some great baked cod near starved rock state park, got pulled over twice within 10 minutes at the park for license and insurance card check - finished the night with a visit to the ampitheater in tinley park for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kid Rock.

Observations:
1) Need to figure out a GPS and GPS mount that works well with the spyder. (I used my iphone during fuel stops to look ahead to my next destination)

2) Need to look in to one of those cruise assist devices... hands started fatiguing late at night.

3) 5th gear at highway cruising speed on the spyder makes me wish for a 6th gear.

4) the BRP 25" windshield cut down on quite a bit of wind blast - I'm 5'8", if I ducked my head down an inch or two, the helmet wind noise went virtually silent. (not a comfortable riding position though)

5) Found good success mounting an Ipass under the trunk lid for the brief stint on the tollway.

6) Trying to be very careful in refueling. I wonder if there would be a simple mechanical gauge that BRP could install that would help you see how full the tank is without relying on the auto shut off or peering in to the hole?

7) Challenging to give a friendly biker wave on a right hand curve.

Hi tim nice way to finish a ride with a concert. as for the shield i was told a brp 23" would be good for me as i am 5'6" . so you think 25 would be better? :dontknow:

welcome:congrats:

Sounds like a nice ride!

GPS - look into RAM mounts, as they are the most flexible (can even mount your iPhone - see Lamonster's post)

Cruise-assist - anything from throttle lock to full electronic (we have McCruise) - use the search tool

Yeah, it revs. You will get used to it; it's actually quite happy at 5200!

Been looking for silence for years - good earplugs finally did it! Tho we really like the CHAD, shields are a very personal thing.

Thanks for the iPass info - coming thru your way, that will be helpful!

Got used to putting the nozzle all the way into the tank on my Beemer, then pulling it out a bit after the first shut-off and trickling. I've noted that the 'breather slots' above the filler opening are helpful - when the bubbles appear, stop! Again a getting used to thing.

Again, sounds like a great way to spend a day!! Here's to more:cheers:

Why did it take you 13.5 hour for only traveling 365 mile may I ask getting about to do a trip 1103 mile and it about 17 hour help me out

same here, all the way in, first stop pull back, go slow, watch for moistness on the ring, give it a little more and done.

1103 miles in 17 hours is some serious riding. Definitely no dawdling at fuel stops and no sit down meals.

You are so right BJT..

When I rode from Kissimmee, fl to Pearcy AR, 1145 miles, l
thru rain etc, it was all I could do to make it in 21.5 hours. Only stops were gas, leg streach, and .?... break.

At 30 miles per gal, the number of stops, really eat time if you don't watch it.

Heh, considering I had less than 300 miles on the spyder when I started, it was a big day for me!

Had a few stops along the way.... 3 hours for concert, at least an hour for dinner and watching a bit of the cubs game at buddies house.

Yep, dltang and I did our first 1,050 miles in 19 hours. We probably could have shaved two hours off of that time if we didn't stop for a little extra time at the Indy banner handoff (and 30 minutes for rain gear dressing and a slight detour after taking a wrong turn in Indy) and for a banner signing / lunch break in Missouri. I think we did about 1,100 miles the second day with you, repops, lamonster and bajaron in about the same 19 hours. Once again, we could have shaved some time off that by limiting our time at fuel / food stops but two hours less would take serious focus on keeping the stop times to a minimum. The amount of fuel stops is going to be fixed at between 7 (going 180 miles per tank) and 10 (going 125 miles per tank). I'm not saying it's impossible but that it takes real focus on keeping on the road instead of resting, stretching you're legs, eating, etc. (unless your willing to go over the posted limit constantly).

I agree.. however, the only time I got 180 miles before refueling was here in Fl not pulling a trailer, and running not over 70mph. If I keep it 60-65 I can get almost 195 per tank.
Of course, time is of the essence when we got to get there post haste.
