Well, O.k. ,,,,I got the fever bad the last week or so and it got the best of me. I traded my old friend for a Black RT S SE6. Man, there's a lot of black on this thing. I already miss the 2010 Blue "GT" that I've been very fond of for the last 3 years:( . Maybe I won't miss it so bad when I get some GT stripes on the new one. So far the '14 is all everyone says it is. No disappointments yet. I am getting use to the SE as my old one was a SM. The reason I traded up was to get the triple, 6 speed, along with the advantages of no valve adjustments, longer oil change intervals and the better fuel range. I kept my blue trailer so looks like it will get painted. With all of this being said, i need suggestions on what color GT stripes to put on the black. I am leaning toward dark Red or Silver. :dontknow: Open to all suggestions, I am on the wrong computer to post a pic but will soon.
I will discuss the performance at a later date after I have time to put some miles on it.
Thanks for any ideas on the color of the Racing stripes :2thumbs:

EDIT: the new RTS in the signature picture.

Silver or White would stand out nicely on the black. :congrats: on the 2014. Your going to like the triple.

I wasn't sure if the white would be too much contrast on the black of not. The Blue was pretty dark and it worked well on that. Now you got me thinking bout white. Edit: the silver would kinda match the brushed aluminum color of the trim pieces. Hmmmmmm.

I have a white 2014 and did not care for racing stripes, they seem to be more common. I took my ride and added black striping but not in the racing stripe design. If I had a black bike I would probably just reverse what I did on my white bike and would do it in white or maybe gold. I think it would look sharp and be a little different from the ordinary stripes. I did my trailer in racing stripes and it's ok but not as sharp as the stripes I put on the bike.

Well..!!

in keeping with the that club headed by Bob...cognac stripes would look sharp....

Oh..and paint the trailer cognac with black stripes...:2thumbs:

Silver over Black is subtle but classy.

Red over Black is good but kind of common and might be on the way out in regards to current color combinations.

Honestly, the real question might be how noticeable or "loud do you want the stripe to be?

Considering it is decorative and not a racer, myself I lean towards a darker metalflake silver or possibly a another shade towards black.

Not that it matters, we have a Pearl White 14 RTs. The wife and I discussed several options, but have done nothing to the exterior paint yet. A very light almost different shade of white Ghost Flames was considered.

Just to gather ideas, I used this websites stripe catalog. I did notice a Mini and Mustang in the colors you mentioned. Just as a visual for you.

Thanks for the opinion PK. I have given thought to a shade of silver on the black. Good comment on how "Loud" I want the stripe to be. I don't want it to be a contrast such as white on black. I think a "low Volume" contrast would be good. After being used to the Blue with White on it, the Black somehow looks plain to me. I know Stripes aren't for everybody but I am hung up on them from the '60's muscle car era. Leaning towards a shade of gray right now.

True Blue

Congrats on the new '14. I thought you would hold out for the deep red '15 but you have a nice one for sure. You seem attached to the blue so why not paint your '14 to match your 622. Whatever you decide will look great. A brushed aluminum stripe may also be possible.
:congrats:

Black when kept spotlessly clean is very elegant anyway.
Choice of stripe colour is not straightforward and depends on many things.
Most important is what YOU think will work.
Are you getting decals or taking it to a body-shop for some spraying?
Getting it painted in a shop would open up the colour choices hugely.
You could have metal flake, mirror flake, bi-colour, satin or matte finishes.

Let's see now....white: Predictable, safe, a bit boring, looks good on a black and white!!

Sorry Bob no offense...whatever floats your boat!

If I had to put a stripe on a black bike I would go for a subtle effect like a very dark gunmetal stripe topped with a very sparse burgundy flake in clear coat,.
In the sun that would really make you look twice! But that's just me......vive la difference!!

Well, I do really like the blue but it wasn't in the 15 lineup. The 1330 appealed to me for the touring application for sure. I really don't think the overall performance is much different (meaning like in a drag race). The V twin has such a good strong feel to it. the Triple is much more relaxed, the torque will fool you because you gather speed quicker than it seems. As I said, it is relaxed, so your senses are fooled. It feels odd to be in 5th or 6th gear at 3000 or so RPM's and roll on the throttle and it just pulls right along. No studdering or anything. The 1330 is suited for the RT very well for the Touring intent. On the New F3 the 1330 is set up for more raw performance. The rear sprocket is larger and probably the ECM tuning is different for more performance. I would love to see a side by side drag race with the old RT and the new RT. Talking about paint, it might be cool to simply have a few panels on the '14 painted blue to match the trailer. That could work.

You have a whole bunch of choices--thanks to many inputs.

Why not get a large piece of cardboard box, a can of gloss black spray enamel, and some close matching color tape. Cut out a foot square or so hood shaped piece and place the tape as though it were stripes.

This will give you a visual to help you make a better decision. Some of the colors sound pretty good, but may not give effect you want to make your :spyder2: stand out.

A visual can help you to avoid the "wow, I could have had a V8" statement later.

Let us know what you decide.

You are right, I would like to get it right the first time. This bike has the two tone seat, kinda hard to see in the pic but the inserts are a gray color. I think it might look cool to try and match the gray in the seat:dontknow: It would kind of give the two tone seat more purpose if it matched something in the bike. it would be a more suddle color for the stripes but it might work.

Yes, the seat is also a consideration. The grey part of the seat may be an excellent color for the stripes. It will make things look like the "total" package.

Silver has my vote. :agree:

My reply, a few up from this I kept within the op request of Red or Silver.

Given a choice to deviate, I would certainly consider some other possible choices before setting it in stone.

The proper Silver on Black should be sharp.

Done right, the brushed aluminum would be proper also..

Without a doubt, I would test a Matte or Flat Black over Gloss design.

Personally, I would not match or try to match a Gray on the seat. Gray is an undecided color, not black nor white.

Burgundy, sometimes classy sometimes not.

Sometimes the best paint work is not always immediately visible accents.

The Previous Blue with White or Non Pearl White with Blue is 60's.

I did a quick search and look for 60's Muscle Cars, mainly in Black. Most had either no stripes, or really wide double stripes.

So many choices, but Silver of some sort seems classy but safe for a touring machine.

Post photos.
