Finally rode the F3 and slingshot

Sprint motorcycles in San Jose demo rides yesterday. Rode ( drove? ) the slingshot, my take is it would be a blast on a lonely mountain road or closed course but I would not like it getting there. No forward visibility in traffic at all and the drive train is incredibly noisy to me. It was new, 100 miles on it...just not for me....The F3, I'm in love!!! Being a 40 plus year cruiser rider and switching to the RSS 3 years ago I really like my bike but...the F3 is me in every way. The riding position, the not having to ride at 5000 rpm, the feel of the pull from the triple, the way it sits in tight high speed turns to even the stock sound and feel of the triple...sad to say it's not in the money cards just now but dang I like that bike

Good review

I tend to agree with your slingshot review. I was able to take one for a Quick spin last weekend and although it was fun, it would not be a comfortable long ride machine. Glad I went the spyder route.

I like the F3S as well.

I have both and after ryding the F3S for a week, the RSS feels so weird to me. Both are two different beast for sure. I bought the F3S because my wife always wanted to ryde the RSS and I would get a little mad when she took it. Now it's hers and no worries.

Possibly you could share some of the specific things that would keep the Slingshot from being a comfortable long ride machine. I'm not trying to turn this into a Slingshot bashing, I am just asking for your personal observations.

I admittedly only went for a short test drive, but here was my take and things I noticed. As noted above, you sit very low so visibility is mediocre at best and I am 6'3" tall. Also, as a tall person I found the breeze pretty substantial, and that led to a lot of wind noise. The vehicle drives like a car, and honestly for all purposes it is just that. A three wheel car with a five speed stick shift and a lot of motor behind that pedal. The stock seats are almost a molded bucket with very little give and the only adjustment is a little forward or backward. This is what led me to the uncomfortable comment. Road noise was also higher than I would have thought and I was in a full face schuberth helmet, which is supposed to be one of the quietest helmets made? On a scale of,1-10 I'd rate the fun factor an 8, comfort 5, handling and response an 8, price was around $21,000 for base model and $24,000 for the sport model.
