Finally! It arrived!

The Mrs. and I finally pulled the trigger on a '12 RT-S SE5 in Viper Red July 3! After riding the Limited demo with comfort seat versus the stock seat, we ordered the tan comfort. It's amazing how 2" makes a world of different to a guy 6'4". I called in today and the seat was being unloaded by UPS! We're all set to take delivery tomorrow.

Their finance guy was nice enough to register the warranty on the 3rd but hold off on all the title work until tomorrow so we'd get more time on the temporary plate and sales tax. We debated about just taking it home the day we bought it but being complete novices we opted to wait for the seat. I wanted to feel completely comfortable being able to reach the brake and grips safely. Upon hearing we were timid to make the 40 minute highway drive home with no experience, they offered to trailer to us for free.

Thanks to them and a fantastic rate from a local credit union, tomorrow cannot come soon enough. Sadly, just in time for super hot temps. Looks like before noon and after 7pm ride times for a while. Here's to an exciting future!

Shopped a bunch of dealers as far away as Evansville, Indiana where my brother is (who happens to have a truck and trailer I had hoped to borrow). We ended up getting ours at St. Louis Powersports (Bowles & 44). So far, exceedingly happy with them *crosses fingers*

Pics to come. I hope the tan with red comes out as good as I picture it will in my head lol Now for Seal floorboards, HID lights, Baker wings and a gps. But first, gotta swallow that pill of sales tax, new helmets, Scala Riders and jackets before I spend any more. After all, I gotta have money to pay for gas!

Welcome aboard. There are a lot of great people, and there is a lot of great info on these boards. Half the fun of ryding a Spyder are the mods, and it sounds like you have an initial plan.

I had a similar experience to you when I purchased mine. The dealer was 40 miles away, on the other side of the city, and I was a relative novice. The only way home was our "Beltway" that takes you around the top side of the city. Its a five lane badboy of intimidation, and I was nervous about it. The night I took delivery, the place closed shop around 8pm. Well, I signed the papers, and they dropped the keys in my hand around 6pm. I just went outside to the parking lot, read the manual, walked around the bike for like, 30 minutes, and then putz'ed around for another hour or so doing figure eights until I was comfortable enough to hit the open road. It's not a steep curve, and with a little saddle time you will have the hang of it.

Just the ryde home, on the highway doing about 65 MPH that evening, was all I needed to know I was on the right machine. It was surreal. I'll never forget that first ryde, I haven't looked back since.

I actually feel really comfortable on it (an innate sense of belonging on it). We went last weekend and the dealer did all the prep work on it for us to ryde it around the area by the dealership. Thanks to the forums, they set the tires and shocks like suggested. The salesman spent 45 minutes or so with us in the lot and off we went for a few hours in mainly residential areas. I think I would have been bold/crazy enough to just ryde it home but my wife wanted to make sure our new baby at least got to our house in one piece. I tend to defer to her judgment as I'm not as blessed with a cautious nature I would have hated for a typical St. Louis cager hitting us and ruining a happy moment.
