• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally got around to wiring and mounting of Gadgets, Radar Detector, Tender & iPhone

I been wanting to get this done since I got the ST-S and could not find a proper solution for Detector mounting until now. I will share what I have done all simple just had to find the right mount for the STS.

Im focusing on the Detector mount, took the longest to figure out what I wanted. I went with a handle bar mount method because I was looking for a easy quick way to get it on without making holes yet on the bike, at some point I may change it when the new wears off and I don't care about a couple of holes.

Here are the parts used and Pics with one added change, All parts ordered from amazon for ease.

Ram Mounting Systems Short Double Socket Arm W/2.5" Round Base Ram-b-103u-a

RAM Radar Detector Mounting Plate

RAM Mount V-Base Rail Yoke Clamp Mount ( NOTE: Hose clamps supplied will not fit on STS get a size 44 from Home Depot or Lowes which will fit around STS bar, add a bit more black tape to protect bike from scratches)

Basically that's it below is how it looks installed:

For some reason wont let me upload other photo, anyway this should give you idea what was done.

What I'm using is a Escort PassportIX Detector
also using Escort Live with iPhone with direct wire smart cord. I also wired iPhone Charging cable to reach phone at handlebar and Battery tender wired direct to battery under the frunk.

Nicely done..!!

careful planning and it worked out nicely..congrats..!! so now you can stop holding back..??

Nicely done. Curious as to why do you need a radar detector these days?

Carl

Detector is for my car mostly I ted to go a tad over at times and I like to be aware of traps. I honestly find it more of a tool to control my lead foot rather than a tool to allow me to abuse with my lead foot.

I will move it to the STS when I need to I don't nearly have any speed issue with the bike I'm more mellow, but now I just don't like being without it.

Thanks for the reply. I can understand your reasoning. ;)

Thanks Osros for sharing! Been looking for neat way of mounting the Zumo 660 for our RT on the STS.

Our dealer quoted C$195.00 for the OEM tiltable mount (as in the ST-L) but needed to order separately a harness to be able to attach the GPS on the OEM mount costing over C$300.00 + installation! :yikes:

Here is the Items used for Iphone Mounting, I use a iPhone 4s but should work with any smartphone.

Again all Items from Amazon except KewlMetal is from a Sponsor here on home page.

RAM Mount Universal X-Grip Cell Phone Holder with 1-Inch Ball
RAM Mounts RAM DBL SOCKET ARM A-LENGTH Body Other Bases BLK- RAM-B-201U-A
RAM Mount Square 2-Inch x 1.7-Inch Base with 1-Inch Ball
KewlMetal GPS/Gizmo Mount Bracket Cam-Am Spyder RT # KD-257

You will need to add 4 bolts and nuts of your choice to attach the kewlmetal to the ram mount. I had my local store here hook me up the second time with a set that wont surface rust, first set started to rust after a while they where black
I got non coated and no rust so far just FYI.

Iphone Case is from LifeProof.com I love this case water and shock proof but slim does not add much to size of phone unlike other cases.

I Love the iPhone just a great All-In-One device GPS, Music & Phone pair it up with a Sena SMH10 Bluetooth Comm System and good to go!

Cheers

I found some Rivco drink holder mounts (w/o the drink cup) and with some RAM balls I was able to mount my iPhone and (eventually) my Satallite Radio. Kinda pricy though.
